Duties

  • Assist pharmacists with medication preparation, including IV infusion compounding and aseptic technique to ensure sterile and safe medication delivery
  • Manage medication intake and inventory, verifying prescriptions against medical orders with precision and attention to detail
  • Support patient care by providing medication information, answering questions, and ensuring timely medication administration in hospital or acute care settings
  • Prepare medications for LTC pharmacy services, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and facility protocols
  • Maintain accurate documentation of medication dispensing, intake records, and pharmacy logs to uphold regulatory compliance
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to facilitate smooth medication workflows during critical care interventions
  • Uphold strict safety standards through adherence to medical terminology, infection control procedures, and pharmacy technician best practices

Experience

  • Prior pharmacy technician experience in hospital or acute care environments is essential, with a strong preference for those familiar with LTC pharmacy or critical care units
  • Proven expertise in IV infusion preparation, aseptic technique, and medication administration processes
  • Knowledge of medical terminology relevant to hospital pharmacy operations and patient care settings
  • Experience working within a fast-paced environment requiring meticulous attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with healthcare teams and patients to support optimal medication management
  • Familiarity with pharmacy software systems used for medication intake, inventory management, and documentation is advantageous
