Our busy Chicago, Illinois warehouse is seeking a meticulous Receiving Clerk to manage the inflow of goods. In this critical role, you will be responsible for accurately receiving, inspecting, and documenting all incoming shipments. Your attention to detail ensures that our inventory levels are correct and that we are aware of all stock entering our facility. This position is foundational to our logistics operations, requiring strong organizational skills and a commitment to accuracy. We prioritize a safe working environment, mandating the use of appropriate PPE and adherence to all safety protocols. This role offers a great opportunity to be an integral part of a thriving supply chain network.
Responsibilities:
- Unload incoming freight from trucks and delivery vehicles.
- Inspect shipments for damage, shortages, or discrepancies.
- Verify received goods against purchase orders and packing slips.
- Accurately record received items into the inventory management system.
- Tag and label received inventory appropriately.
- Stage received goods for distribution to appropriate warehouse areas.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe receiving dock area.
- Communicate effectively with suppliers, truck drivers, and internal departments regarding shipments.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including the proper use of PPE.
- Participate in inventory audits and cycle counts as needed.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a receiving or warehouse environment is preferred.
- Ability to perform occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.
- Understanding of basic logistics and inventory control procedures.
- Excellent organizational and record-keeping skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in using RF scanners and basic computer systems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to workplace safety and wearing required PPE.
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including occasional Saturdays.
