We have an exciting opening for a Shipping Clerk in Washington, D.C. If you are highly organized, detail-oriented, and thrive in a fast-paced logistics environment, we want to hear from you! Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that all outgoing shipments are processed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with company standards and carrier regulations. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. You will work closely with the warehouse team and external shipping partners. Physical stamina is necessary, as the role involves standing for extended periods and potentially lifting packages. Safety is paramount; you will receive thorough training on all safety procedures and the mandatory use of personal protective equipment (PPE), along with guidance on safe lifting practices. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to our vital logistics operations.
Responsibilities:
- Accurately prepare and process all outgoing shipment documentation, including labels and manifests.
- Verify the contents of outgoing orders against order specifications.
- Package products securely and appropriately for transit to prevent damage.
- Coordinate with carriers for shipment pick-ups and deliveries.
- Track shipments and provide status updates as required.
- Maintain organized records of all shipping activities.
- Ensure the shipping area is clean, orderly, and adequately stocked with supplies.
- Comply with all company safety guidelines and consistently use required PPE.
- Assist with other warehouse duties as needed, such as receiving or inventory.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams and external shipping partners.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework is a plus.
- Prior experience as a Shipping Clerk or in a similar administrative/logistics role.
- Proficiency with computers, including shipping software and basic office applications.
- Exceptional organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to perform light to moderate lifting (up to 25 pounds).
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Understanding of shipping procedures, carrier services, and logistics.
- Familiarity with warehouse safety standards and the use of PPE.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
