Position Summary: In accordance with established company policies and procedures (P&P), responsible for the supervision and oversight of the direct care staff in the delivery of care and services to all residents in the community to include Activities of Daily Living (ADL), room cleanliness, scheduled activities and dining services according to company policies, practices, standards, and individual service plan needs of each assigned resident. In addition, provides and performs Resident Assistant/Medication Technician duties and responsibilities to residents. Serves as mentor to direct care staff in the community. This position reports to the Health & Wellness Director.
Shift Supervisor - Essential Functions:
- Responsible for ensuring adequate staff have reported and are on duty before dismissing off going shift and calling for staff to report to work.
- Responsible for the initial orientation and continued training on duties and functions for all new resident assistants as per proficiency checklist, policies, standards, and
- Responsible for communicating and documenting approved log resident health status, concerns, and emergencies to all appropriate parties including, but not limited to, residents, families, health care practitioners, Director of Health and Wellness and ancillary service provider
- Administers medication and completes assigned treatments after certification as needed or assigned.
- Responsible for ensuring all Resident Assistants/Certified Nursing Assistants have completed assignments, read and signed off on all RA logs.
- Provides personal care to residents to include, but not limited to, bathing, skin care, oral hygiene, grooming, dressing, and incontinence care, etc.
- Provides general nursing care including vital signs, temperatures, blood pressure, heights and weights as requested by Health ant Wellness staff.
- Answers calls for resident assistance regardless of assignment and assists residents with needs according to Morningside House standards.
- Makes rounds frequently in all units of community and reports any concerns to appropriate director.
- Handles all emergencies according to established Policy and Procedures.
- Attends and participates in staff training and in-services.
- Follows company standards, practices, policies to include, but not limited to, attendance, dress code, etc.
- Follows all federal, state and local regulations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Shift Supervisor - Requirements:
- Must be able to maintain satisfactory attendance as per Policy # 871 and must be able to report for duty as scheduled
- High School graduate or equivalent with minimum of one year working with a senior population with strong interest in medical administrative responsibilities
- Must be CPR certified and First Aid trained.
- Current Medication Technician certification or other requirements as per state regulations to pass medication.
- Time Management: the ability to organize and manage multiple priorities in an efficient manner
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to speak and write effectively in English
- Commitment and adherence to company values and policies
- Must be a strong team player
- Requires effective interpersonal skills, exhibiting a caring, positive, smiling, humorous, professional attitude and demeanor with residents, families and staff.
- Must adhere to confidentiality procedures to insure HIPAA and Morningside House standards are met or exceeded at all times.
