Success in this role means delivering scalable, reliable functionality that improves provider experience, strengthens patient engagement, and accelerates our ability to serve communities at scale.
*Key Responsibilities *
- Enhance and extend the organization's EHR platform (Canvas) using Python and modern development practices.
- Develop integrations using APIs, SDKs, and FHIR to connect clinical systems, third-party applications, and patient-facing tools.
- Build workflow automations, clinical decision support logic, and communication capabilities (texting, mobile engagement, etc.).
- Partner with business analysts, clinicians, and operations teams to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Collaborate with the One Room development team and internal stakeholders to align on architecture, integrations, and product priorities.
- Support the design and development of mobile app functionality, including patient portals and scheduling features.
- Implement and optimize AI-enabled workflows, including ambient clinical documentation and other emerging tools.
- Troubleshoot issues across the stack and provide continuous improvement to system performance, reliability, and usability.
- Participate in technical interviews and contribute to shaping engineering best practices and standards.
*Requirements (Must-Haves) *

- Python development skills, including experience with data transformations and backend development.
- API and SDK integration experience, including familiarity with FHIR.
- Experience supporting or developing clinical and operational workflows.
- Strong understanding of healthcare data structures, terminology, and interoperability.
- Ability to work across the stack—frontend, backend, integrations—within an agile, fast-moving environment.
- Excellent communication skills and comfort working directly with non-technical stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to operate in a startup-like environment: adaptive, resourceful, collaborative.
*Nice to Haves *
- Experience with AI or machine-learning–enabled applications (e.g., ambient clinical documentation, decision support).
- Mobile application development or integration experience.
- Experience building patient-facing engagement tools or communication workflows.
