SHINE Technologies is seeking an Emergency Response Coordinator to perform duties, under general supervision, related to Emergency Preparedness as well as auxiliary duties for the Radiation Protection Department.
The Emergency Response Coordinator will implement all aspects of the SHINE Emergency Preparedness Program at its nuclear facilities requiring such programs.
This individual is considered a Subject Matter Expert (SME) within the organization and is accountable to ensure a high level of response capabilities at SHINE's nuclear facilities while satisfying agreements with local agencies and adhering to licensing/regulatory requirements pertaining to emergency response.
This position will also require a portion of time spent performing Radiation Protection duties as needed at the discretion of the Radiation Protection Manager.
The base salary range for this position is $70,000 - $115,000 per year plus a comprehensive compensation package. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.
Duties and Responsibilities of the Emergency Response Coordinator:
- Work with the SHINE Radiation Protection Manager and Operations staff to develop, update, and maintain facility Emergency Preparedness plans and implementing procedures
- Develop and implement classroom and On-The-Job training related to emergency preparedness and radiation protection
- Interface and maintain relationships with external organizations and stakeholders such as local emergency response organizations, medical facilities, and State of Wisconsin emergency management personnel
- Develop, coordinate, and conduct drills, exercises, and training for internal and external emergency response personnel
- Implement an internal critique process that ensures continuous improvement and tracking of lessons learned
- Perform corrective action duties related to emergency preparedness
- Perform research and benchmarking across similar industries to identify and implement continuous improvement
- Ensure adequate inventory and operability of all emergency response materials and equipment.
- Coordinate readiness functions such as maintaining an on-call/duty roster for emergency response organization personnel
- Obtain and maintain qualification(s) necessary to backfill and assist in radiation protection duties as needed such as performance of radiation and contamination surveys, decontamination, sampling of gases, liquids, and solids, and other routine radiation protection tasks.
- Perform other RP focus duties as requested or assigned at the discretion of the Radiation Protection Manager.
Requirements:
- Bachelors Degree in Emergency Management or related physical science specialty or have equivalent training and experience in one or more of the following areas: nuclear operations, nuclear operations training, engineering, health physics, nuclear security, or similar.
- Experience in an emergency response organization at a nuclear facility with experience as a controller/evaluator preferred
- Experience in operational radiation protection duties preferred
- Technical understanding of nuclear facility principles and operation.
- Familiarity with federal regulatory requirements regarding radiation protection.
- Strong PC skills to include Microsoft software.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort:
- Moderate physical activity. Requires handling of average weight objects up to 40 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.
- Fine motor coordination and strong depth perception is beneficial.
- Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
- Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.

Eligibility for employment is conditioned on the applicant's ability to qualify for access to information subject to U.S. Export Controls. Additionally, applicant's eligibility may be conditioned based upon meeting the Nuclear Regulatory Commission requirements for access to Safeguards Information, which typically requires a pre-employment drug screen, fingerprinting and criminal background check.
