Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Activities Assistant to join our team on a part-time basis. This role is vital in enhancing the quality of life for residents by organizing engaging recreational activities tailored to their needs. The ideal candidate will have experience in assisted living, nursing home environments, or long-term care, with a strong background in recreational therapy, dementia care, and working with seniors or individuals with disabilities. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of residents through creative programming and personalized engagement.
Duties
- Plan, coordinate, and facilitate a variety of recreational activities that promote socialization, cognitive stimulation, and physical activity for residents.
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed, including mobility and personal care support.
- Manage activity schedules to ensure diverse and balanced programming throughout the week.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to residents, fostering a warm and welcoming environment.
- Collaborate with nursing staff and caregivers to tailor activities that meet individual needs, especially for those with Alzheimer's, dementia, or memory impairments.
- Assist with aging issues counseling and provide guidance on social engagement strategies.
- Maintain accurate records of participation and resident feedback to improve activity offerings.
- Support home & community care initiatives by coordinating outings or community events when appropriate.
Skills
- Experience in event planning, recreational therapy, or senior care settings such as assisted living or nursing homes.
- Knowledge of Alzheimer's care, dementia care, memory care, and long-term care best practices.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with residents, families, and staff.
- Ability to assist residents with ADLs and manage schedules efficiently.
- Compassionate caregiving skills with an understanding of aging issues and disabilities.
- Experience working with people with disabilities or in home & community care environments is preferred.
- Excellent organizational skills for managing multiple activities simultaneously while ensuring safety and engagement standards are met.
- Ability to foster a positive environment that encourages social interaction and emotional well-being among residents.
