Development Assistant

Position Summary:

SLOLAF is seeking a creative and mission-driven Development Assistant to support our fundraising efforts. This is an exciting opportunity to help SLOLAF increase its visibility and donor network.

This part-time, flexible position is ideal for someone who is passionate about social justice, enjoys working with diverse populations, and has strong communication and digital media skills. The Development Assistant will work closely with the Executive Director and Finance & Administration Manager. This is a mostly remote position with some in-person attendance at office meetings and community events. Hours are flexible.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain and update donor database.
• Assist with donor research and scheduling meetings.
• Develop good relationships with donors, partner organizations, community leaders, as a representative of SLOLAF.
• Assist with donor-related content for social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Linkedin) aligned with SLOLAF's mission and voice.
• Assist with Giving Tuesday campaign and annual appeal letter/email campaign.
• Track engagement metrics and recommend strategies to grow reach and effectiveness.
• Assist with donor appreciation and recognition.
• Assist with annual fundraiser event.

Qualifications:

Desired Skills and Experience:

· Strong verbal and written communication skills.

· Experience using social media platforms and a demonstrated interest in digital storytelling.

· Highly organized, self-motivated, and detail-oriented.

· Comfort engaging with the public and working with diverse communities.

· Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and willingness to learn additional tools including donor-based software.

· Experience with Canva, Wix, Constant Contact, or similar platforms.

· Prior experience in development, communications, or nonprofit settings.

· A passion for SLOLAF's mission and an interest in contributing to the success of nonprofit operations.

· Valid California driver's license and current auto insurance.

Compensation and Benefits:

· $20–$25/hour (DOE)

· Paid sick leave accrues at a rate of 1 hour for every 30 hours worked

· Flexible scheduling and remote work

· Monthly cell phone allowance of $25
