What You'll Do
The Renovation Specialist / Service Technician is a hands-on, multi-skilled trades professional responsible for service work, quality control and warranty-related repairs. This role reports to the Warranty Manager and is responsible for delivering high-quality workmanship, efficient repairs, and providing a positive client experience across renovation and custom home projects.

This position requires someone who can handle a wide range of renovation and repair tasks independently, take ownership of their work, and represent Ackard professionally on site and in client homes.

Construction & Renovation Work

  • Read and interpret plans, scopes of work, work orders, and deficiency reports to ensure work is completed accurately
  • Perform repair and patch work, including drywall, painting, tile, casing, trim, siding, and flooring
  • Install windows, doors, frames, hardware, and interior/exterior trim
  • Access attics and other confined spaces to investigate building components such as ventilation, plumbing lines, and mechanical systems
  • Install insulation in walls and complete drywall replacement and finishing as required
  • Apply caulking and sealants as required to ensure proper finish and weatherproofing
  • Complete rough and finished carpentry work, including cabinetry when required
  • Assist with site setup, teardown, and maintain ongoing jobsite housekeeping

Service & Warranty Support

  • Complete repairs and installations identified in Pre-Possession and Warranty reports
  • Respond to routine and emergency service calls as required
  • Coordinate with the Warranty Manager on deficiencies, materials, and follow-up work
  • Submit required documentation and reports upon completion of service and warranty items

Site, Tools & Safety

  • Work collaboratively with sub-trades to maintain efficient project flow
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe job sites at all times
  • Complete daily field-level hazard assessments (FLHA) and participate in toolbox meetings
  • Follow all Ackard safety standards, policies, and building codes
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and assigned vehicle in safe working conditions
  • Log daily tasks and updates in Buildertrend construction software

What You Bring

We're looking for someone passionate about their work, eager to contribute to a team, and committed to delivering high-quality results.

  • Extensive experience in residential renovation and repair with strong troubleshooting and finish carpentry skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal to no supervision while exercising sound judgment and problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable working at heights (ladders, scaffolding, roofs) with valid Fall Protection certification
  • Standard First Aid certification and a strong, proactive safety mindset
  • Humble, coachable, and eager to learn
  • Trustworthy, reliable, and professional in client-facing warranty and service situations
  • Clear communicator with strong customer service skills and comfort using construction technology apps
  • Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and a clean driving record
  • Own tools suitable for renovation and service work

Working Conditions
This position involves hands-on work in both interior and exterior residential construction environments. Team members must be comfortable working in variable conditions and adapting to the physical demands of a dynamic job site.

  • Residential renovation and custom home build sites
  • Frequent work at heights and on ladders or scaffolding
  • Exposure to all weather conditions
  • Regular lifting up to 50 lbs; occasional assisted lifts up to 75 lbs
  • Physically demanding work including standing, climbing, kneeling, and tool use
  • Work in confined, dusty, noisy, or elevated environments
  • Required use of PPE at all times
  • Monday to Friday, daytime hours
  • Minimal overtime; no out-of-town travel
