Northern Doors is seeking a motivated and experienced Manager to join our team. The current manager is stepping back from these duties, and we are looking for a candidate ready to take on a leadership role and grow with our company.

We are a well-established, family orientated company located in Grande Prairie, AB. We specialize in the installation, servicing, and maintenance of commercial and residential overhead doors, electric operators, gate systems, loading dock equipment, and more. As a growing company, we take pride in quality service, professionalism, and commitment to safety.
Position Overview:
The Manager will oversee daily operations, manage staff, and support all aspects of the business. This includes learning about overhead doors and commercial man doors, providing guidance to the team, and ensuring high-quality service for our customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Learn & maintain a continuous working knowledge of the commercial door industry: Commercial Overhead Doors, Electric Operators, Gate Operator, Access Controls, Dock Levelers, Hollow Metal Man Doors, Pressed Steel Frames, Architectural Hardware, Division 8 Products, etc.
- Oversee day-to-day operations to ensure efficiency and adherence to company standards.
- Manage staff performance, provide coaching, and foster a positive workplace culture.
- Handle and resolve customer concerns efficiently, ensuring issues are addressed thoroughly while maintaining professionalism and customer confidence.
- Accurately document workorders, track job progress, and manage inventory.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, vendors, contractors, and subcontractors.
- Attend meetings with builders, contractors, customers and vendors, as needed.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies in coordination with our Safety Advisor.
- Support business growth by identifying process improvements and operational efficiencies.
- Collaborate closely with company owners to achieve business goals and drive strategic initiatives.
- Review regular financial reports with the owners and our bookkeeper to monitor performance, identify trends, and support informed business decisions.
- Identify new areas of business growth and work with teams to implement action plans.
- Lead regular safety meetings with the Safety Coordinator to address workplace concerns, review procedures, update protocols, and recognize employee achievements, fostering a culture of safety and positive reinforcement.
- Prepare commercial overhead door proposals as required, following company training and guidelines. (Training will be provided for this)
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years' management experience in the construction industry, is required.
- Education in a related field and equivalent work experience will be considered.
- Knowledge of the overhead door industry is an asset but is not required.
- Ability to read, and comprehend architectural, engineering blueprints, construction plans and specifications.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach, train and motivate staff.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Exceptional conflict management, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
- Financial literacy, including budgeting, reporting, and understanding financial data.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel, with a strong aptitude for learning new software.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Positive and professional demeanor with a commitment to excellent service.
- Existing relationships with trades and contractors is an asset.
- Additional training will be provided to the right candidate.
Employment Type:
- This is a permanent, full-time position.
- This role requires on-site, in-person attendance and is not a remote or hybrid position.
- Our hours of operation are Monday to Friday 8am-5pm.
- Some overtime may be required.
