You will gain deep experience managing crucial cases like toxin ingestion, skin allergies, dehydration, upper respiratory issues, and acute gastrointestinal illnesses, such as diarrhea and vomiting. Crucially, we intentionally triage the most severe, life-threatening emergencies - such as severe trauma or respiratory distress requiring overnight hospitalization - to 24/7 emergency facilities. This defined scope of practice allows you and your teammates to focus your energy on swift diagnostics and precise urgent treatments, mastering a high-impact medical workflow every day. Our hospital is located in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania, a highly accessible location that offers convenience for both commuting and local living. The Certified Veterinary Technician title is used in various states based on state-specific licensing and credentialing requirements. Responsibilities may vary depending on the hospital and/or state and will be outlined by the state's Veterinary Practice Act and/or the responsible veterinarian, where applicable.
- Be a Lifeline for Patients in Crisis: You'll be on the front lines, utilizing your full skillset in triage, stabilization, patient monitoring, and critical care under veterinarian supervision.
- Provide Clarity in Critical Moments: You'll be a vital and calming link for pet owners, clearly explaining treatments, reviewing discharge instructions, and providing reassurance during stressful times.
- Lead and Elevate Your Team: In a fast-paced setting, you'll guide and support your colleagues, ensuring a smooth workflow and fostering a focused, collaborative atmosphere.
- Ensure Seamless Care: Your clear and accurate record-keeping in a fast-paced environment will be crucial for patient handoffs, case management, and effective team communication.
What You'll Bring To The Team
- A calm, efficient, and decisive approach, especially during medical emergencies.
- Graduate of an AVMA-accredited Veterinary Technician program and a current state license (CVT) in good standing.
- Proficiency in a range of technical skills, with a strong aptitude for emergency procedures, anesthesia monitoring, and critical care nursing.
- Confidence in handling animals of all temperaments and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills and a passion for working collaboratively under pressure.
- One year of experience in a veterinary setting is preferred; urgent care or emergency experience is a plus
