The Overlook at Rowan | Salisbury, NC
A brand-new beginning deserves exceptional stewardship.
The Overlook at Rowan is not your typical skilled nursing facility, and we are not looking for just any maintenance man. This isn't a "fix-it-when-it-breaks" role. This is a guardian-of-the-building role.
We are preparing to reopen and relaunch a fully revitalized, like-new building, and we are seeking a Maintenance Director who takes pride in excellence, ownership, and compliance. This role is for someone who understands that maintenance is not just repairs — it is life safety, regulatory readiness, and protecting the environment our residents call home.
This building will be treated like it's brand new, because it is.
We are looking for someone who will care for it that way.
- You will be part of a ground-up restart with high standards and clear expectations
- You will help set the tone for preventative maintenance, safety culture, and survey readiness
- You will be trusted as the expert and steward of the physical plant
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who works hard, thinks ahead, and takes pride in doing things the right way — every time.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee all aspects of building maintenance and physical plant operations
- Develop, implement, and maintain a strong preventative maintenance program
- Ensure full compliance with state and federal life safety regulations (CMS, NC DHHSR, NFPA, etc.)
- Maintain readiness for Life Safety, Fire Marshal, and regulatory surveys
- Manage and document work orders, inspections, and PM schedules using TELS
- Conduct regular inspections of building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, generators, fire systems, and emergency equipment
- Coordinate vendors and contractors as needed
- Respond promptly to maintenance and safety concerns
- Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for residents, families, and staff
- Serve as a key partner to Administration in compliance and safety planning
- Proven experience as a Maintenance Director or senior maintenance role in skilled nursing or healthcare
- Strong understanding of life safety codes and regulatory compliance
- Demonstrated experience with preventative maintenance programs
- Working knowledge of TELS (required)
- Ability to document and track compliance activities accurately
- Strong work ethic, accountability, and attention to detail
- Ability to lead by example and take ownership of the building
- Someone who takes personal pride in their building
- Someone who understands that maintenance is directly tied to resident safety and quality of care
- Someone who doesn't cut corners and doesn't wait to be told what needs fixing
- Someone who wants to be part of something new, meaningful, and done right
- Someone who lives in close proximity to the building and is available when needs arise. Response in emergency situations is key
- Be part of a fresh start and relaunch
- Work in a facility where standards are high and leadership is engaged
- Join the Ascent Healthcare Management family, where grit, accountability, and doing the right thing matter
