Overview Salary: £46,062 (National) or £50,182 (Croydon) plus skills allowance of up to £5,000 pending assessment.

Security Clearance : This role requires Security Check (SC) clearance, normally 5 years’ UK residency in the past 5 years.
Role description You’ll work in a fast-paced Digital Channels team to create and manage clear, accurate and user-led content for the Home Office intranet and other internal channels. We design and publish content to help staff find policy and guidance they need to do their jobs, helping the Home Office to keep the UK safe and secure. We also train and support channel owners to ensure their content meets writing and accessibility standards. You will work flexibly on business-as-usual tasks and projects. You’ll know how to make complex language and processes simple to understand and make the case for designing content based on user needs.
Responsibilities
Work with internal communications teams, content designers on GOV.UK and other colleagues to design and publish user‑centred content.
Collaborate with Home Office Digital technical teams, operational staff and policy officials.
Learn about design and research in the Home Office on our Digital and Data blog.
Contribute to and support accessibility and inclusion in content.
Qualifications and skills
Content design: writing and editing content according to defined processes and standards, simplifying complex language for non‑specialist audiences.
Evidence-based design: using analytics, feedback and research to understand user needs and inform content decisions.
Stakeholder management: independently engaging with a range of stakeholders and advocating for user‑centred approaches.
Accessibility and inclusion: assessing accessibility and advising on fixes to be inclusive and accessible to all.
Collaboration: participating in group work, seeking feedback and giving constructive feedback.
Communication: clearly articulating benefits of a user‑centred approach to stakeholders.
Based on the Home Office Government Digital and Data Profession Career Framework (SFIA).
