This role is for a Business Analyst in Reading, UK, on a fixed‑term contract of 1 year (extendable) with a pay rate of "£X/hour." Key skills include telecom OSS/BSS experience, business analysis, process mapping, and Agile methodologies. A Bachelor's degree and 4‑7 years of relevant experience are required.
Key Responsibilities
Capture, analyze, and document functional and technical requirements from business stakeholders, network engineers, and OSS/BSS platform teams
Conduct comprehensive workshops to discuss, clarify, and prioritize requirements while identifying gaps, assumptions, and dependencies
Produce high‑quality Business Requirement Documents (BRDs), Functional Requirement Documents (FRDs), user stories, and acceptance criteria
Translate telecom‑specific engineering rules and operational complexities into precise data models and system specifications
Process Mapping & Optimization
Map and analyze end‑to‑end telecom operational lifecycles including provisioning, activation, network assurance, optimization, and decommissioning
Perform gap analysis on current processes and define future‑state operations using BPMN or UML notation
Identify opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiency through automation and system optimization
Document process flows across multiple domains (RAN, Core, Fixed networks) and vendor environments
OSS/BSS Platform Analysis
Analyze and document complex data flows across OSS/BSS systems, inventory management, and network management platforms
Work with multi‑vendor environments (Ericsson, Nokia, Huawei, ZTE) to ensure seamless integration and data consistency
Support the evaluation and selection of OSS/BSS tools and platforms aligned with business objectives
Identify system integration points, API requirements, and data transformation needs
Solution Design & Validation
Support solution architects in validating solution designs and ensuring alignment with telecom operating models and standards
Review technical specifications and validate feasibility from a business and operational perspective
Provide guidance on legacy‑to‑cloud migration strategies, digital transformation initiatives, and AI‑driven automation
Ensure compliance with telecom industry standards and network constraints
Stakeholder Collaboration & Communication
Facilitate communication between technical teams, business stakeholders, and vendor partners
Conduct walkthrough sessions and knowledge transfer activities with development and testing teams
Provide clarification on requirements during implementation phases
Approve features and user stories during development demos and UAT cycles
Present findings and recommendations to senior management
Project Support
Estimate effort and resource requirements for new projects and solution changes
Support project planning and execution in Agile environments applying DevOps principles
Manage project documentation and maintain requirements traceability matrices
Participate in risk identification and mitigation planning
Required Qualifications Education
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, Telecommunications, or related field
Experience
Minimum 4‑7 years of professional experience in business analysis, preferably in telecom OSS/BSS environments
Demonstrated experience with OSS/BSS platforms and telecom operations
Proven track record of successful requirement gathering, analysis, and documentation in complex technical environments
Experience with telecom industry processes (provisioning, network activation, billing, customer management)
Experience working with multi‑vendor telecom systems and environments
