Experienced Diesel Mechanic

Overview

We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team, primarily based in our climate-controlled indoor shop with occasional service calls to job sites for truck and equipment repairs. You will work closely with the Fleet Manager, department heads, and construction foremen to maintain and optimize the operation of our fleet, which includes Class A trucks, pickups, and construction equipment. This role is essential to ensuring the safety, reliability, and performance of our fleet.

  • Strong problem-solving skills for troubleshooting and repairing hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, mechanical, and computer systems.

  • Proficient in performing safety and performance inspections, as well as DOT inspections.

  • Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently.

  • Commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.

Essential Job Functions

  • Perform routine and in-depth maintenance on company fleet vehicles and construction equipment.

  • Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, mechanical, computer, and A/C systems.

  • Maintain heavy equipment such as loaders, rollers, brooms, and forklifts.

  • Conduct safety and DOT inspections while adhering to safety regulations and company policies.

  • Assist with vehicle, equipment, and parts procurement.

  • Operate internal fleet management and maintenance software systems.

  • Respond to service calls and complete repairs as needed.

  • Safely operate all equipment and tools while maintaining a clean and organized work area.

Qualifications And Education Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience as a Diesel Mechanic.

  • Class R License.

  • CDL is a plus.

  • Good driving record is required.

  • Availability to work overtime on short notice when needed, some nights and weekends.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights.

  • Capable of moving and lifting 70+ lbs.

  • Ability to remain stationary for extended periods.

  • Willingness to work extended hours and irregular days as needed.
