Department Overview

The Safety and Infrastructure Protection Team (SIPT) serves under the Wildfire Operations (WO) – Wildfire, Emergency and Operations (WEO) organization and performs wildfire mitigation, wildfire prevention, asset protection, and emergency fire response to support PG&E's stand that catastrophic wildfires shall stop. The purpose of the SIPT organization is to safeguard PG&E coworkers and our communities by protecting our infrastructure through ignition containment, hazard mitigation, and emergency response. To accomplish this, the team performs a wide range of emergency response, wildfire mitigation, and routine work activities.

Position Summary

Operations Support Specialists work in a round-the-clock/365-day operation. They receive information and requests for assistance from various sources, including SIPT field units, HAWC, PSS Team, Fresno Dispatch, and by monitoring agency radio communications. They work in conjunction with field supervisors to evaluate the need for response to various types of incidents including Fires, 911 standby, EPSS outages, emergency switching and emergency work. They assign and track resources utilizing a resource management platform throughout the service territory.

PG&E is providing the salary range that can reasonably be expected for this position at the time of the job posting. This salary range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, internal equity, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, and geographic location. The decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.​ This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E's discretionary incentive compensation programs

Bay Area – $114,000 - $162,800

Job Responsibilities

Perform SIPT internal and external communications and handle escalated situations/issues.

Provide situational awareness to company leadership and other Functional Areas and internal partners.

Lead training with SIPT and other groups.

Lead mentoring, training and on-boarding of new Operations Support Specialists.

Ensure Standard Radio Operating Procedure policies and command and control procedures are followed.

Solicit feedback internally and from other Functional Areas and incorporate feedback into process and improvement recommendations.

Perform routine staff work and challenging dispatch duties.

Assist with Supervisory level tasks if needed.

Provide SIPT situational updates during group meetings and/or calls.

Facilitate operational briefing and planning meetings.

Qualifications

Minimum:
High School or GED-General Educational Development-GED Diploma

5 years of job-related experience as a company officer or dispatcher in a public safety department, or SIPT operations support center, or combination thereof.

2 years of job-related experience as a fire officer (Lieutenant, Captain, Chief), public safety dispatch supervisor, or SIPT Crew Lead, or a combination thereof

ICS 400 Advanced ICS

Completed training for an ICS Command or General staff position

Ability to work 24 hours per day-7 days per week environment

Desired:
Bachelor's degree in job-related discipline or equivalent experience

Master's degree in job-related discipline or equivalent experience

Experience working in a public safety agency, performing resource allocation and tracking on a statewide level

Experience in developing training curriculum and proving training to others

Experience in GIS and use of mapping tools

Experience functioning as a chief officer or leader in the California fire service

Experience performing at the Command and General staff level at All-Hazards Incidents

ICS 440 Planning Section Chief

California State Fire Marshal Chief Officer

Proficient in Microsoft Office applications

Proficient in Adobe Acrobat Pro

Ability to work collaboratively with others

Ability to plan, prioritize and coordinate

Ability to work independently with little day-to-day guidance

Clear and precise communication skills via various methods and to different audiences

Intermediate understanding of utility procedures and operations
