We are currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Accountant/Cost Accountant
.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on Accounting experience, team-oriented professional who will be responsible for overseeing the company's accounting operations, ensuring compliance with
Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
and government regulations, and providing management with timely and accurate financial information.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage all core accounting systems and functions, including the
    General Ledger (GL), Accounts Payable (A/P), Accounts Receivable (A/R), Payroll, and Budgeting.
  • Prepare, analyze, and distribute accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
  • Direct and manage the efficient completion of month-end and year-end close processes within established deadlines.
  • Develop, maintain, and monitor the company's annual operating budgets, financial forecasts, and cash flow projections.
  • Oversee company-wide timekeeping compliance and manage bi-weekly payroll processing, including all associated tax filings (e.g., Form 941s, W-2s) and system transfers (e.g., using
    UKG
    or similar payroll software).
  • Ensure the timely and accurate processing of vendor and subcontractor payments, and manage accounts receivable collections.
  • Prepare and review complex journal entries, analyze trial balances, and ensure accurate reconciliation of all GL accounts.
  • Maintain strict compliance with
    GAAP
    ,
    Cost Accounting Standards (CAS)
    , and various governmental and regulatory requirements, including those specific to federal contracting (e.g.,
    FAR, DFAR, DCAA, DOL
    ).
  • Coordinate and support all external audits conducted by independent auditors, tax professionals, and regulatory agencies.
  • Develop, document, implement, and maintain effective accounting-related
    Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
    .
  • Identify, recommend, and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency, accuracy, and control environment of the accounting department.
  • Mentor accounting staff, fostering professional development and promoting operational excellence.
  • Lead strategic initiatives focused on strengthening financial reporting quality, transparency, and organizational accountability.

Required Qualifications

  • Education:
    Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related discipline.
  • Experience:
    5–10 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance
  • Certifications:
    CPA
    (Certified Public Accountant) or
    CMA
    (Certified Management Accountant) certification is
    preferred not required.
  • Technical Knowledge:
    Strong, comprehensive knowledge of
    GAAP
    and proven experience applying
    Cost Accounting Standards (CAS)
    .
  • Systems Experience:
    Hands-on experience with an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system such as
    Deltek Costpoint
    or an equivalent financial management system.
  • Financial Reporting:
    Demonstrated proficiency in preparing complex financial statements, managing the general ledger, and developing and managing budgets.
  • Government Contracting:
    Familiarity with common contract types in government or regulated industries, such as
    Cost-Plus-Fixed-Fee (CPFF)
    ,
    Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ)
    ,
    Firm-Fixed-Price (FFP)
    , and
    Time & Materials (T&M)
    .
  • Workflow Systems:
    Experience with systems like
    WAWF
    (Wide Area Workflow) and
    GSA Assist
    is preferred.
  • Software Proficiency:
    Advanced proficiency in
    Microsoft Office Suite
    , particularly
    Excel
    (including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and complex formulas).
