Position Summary: 
The Room Attendant at Homewood Suites Hotel is a key team member entrusted with the responsibility of maintaining the cleanliness and organization of guest rooms. More than just tidying up, they play a pivotal role in ensuring that each guest's stay is comfortable and enjoyable by upholding the high standards of cleanliness and presentation that Homewood Suites is known for. Attention to detail, efficiency in time management, and a dedicated work ethic are fundamental attributes for success in this position. Room Attendants are also tasked with collaborating with other hotel departments to promptly address guest needs and requests. A successful Room Attendant at Homewood Suites not only possesses expertise in room maintenance but also embodies a positive demeanor, strong teamwork skills, and a commitment to delivering exceptional service to enrich the overall guest experience. 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned):

  • Clean and maintain hotel room
  • Change linens, make beds, vacuum, dust, and replenish amenities in guest rooms and bathrooms
  • Ensure all supplies such as toiletries, towels, and linens are stocked and replaced as needed
  • Respond promptly to guest requests and resolve any issues or complaints effectively
  • Adhere to all safety and security procedures to provide a safe environment for guests and colleagues
  • Collaborate with team members to achieve department goals and deliver outstanding service
  • Uphold hotel standards and procedures to exceed guest expectations
  • Report any maintenance issues or damages in rooms to the appropriate department for timely resolution
  • Follow environmentally friendly practices and procedures to support sustainability efforts
  • Embrace opportunities for training and development to enhance job performance and advance in your career within the hospitality industry

Other Essential Job Duties: (Continued)

  • Attends hotel and department meetings and other functions required by management
  • Communicates all pertinent information to Housekeeping Supervisor and/or Executive Housekeeper
  • Must be available to work weekends and holidays
  • Arrives to work on time, ready to clock in, in a clean/pressed uniform and non-slip shoes. Must maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming. Wears name tag at all times when at work
  • Must be attentive, courteous and efficient at all times when dealing with the Guests and co-workers
  • Comply at all times with compliance standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations
  • Establish and maintain good communications and teamwork with fellow employees and other departments within the hotel in such a manner that promotes harmony and goodwill throughout the workplace
  • Be familiar with all policies and hotel rules, and hotel terminology
  • Must be capable of self-supervision and have the ability to manage time accordingly in order to complete the required work
Qualifications

Qualifications Requirements:  

  • A minimum of 1 year of progressive experience in hotel housekeeping
  • Minimum age requirement of 18 years

Knowledge and Skills: 

  • Proficiency in multitasking is essential
  • Ability to meet the needs of others in a dynamic and fast-paced setting
  • Possess a friendly demeanor and the ability to address guest requests and concerns promptly and courteously
  • Proficiency in using cleaning equipment and supplies, including vacuums, mops, and disinfectants, to sanitize bathrooms and other room areas
  • Understanding of hotel safety and sanitation protocols to ensure a safe and hygienic environment for guests and staff
  • Capability to perform physically demanding tasks such as lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods
  • Knowledge of safety protocols to handle chemicals 
  • Ability to keep track of room supplies, restock as necessary, and maintain an organized work area

 
Reasoning Ability:   
Having well-developed reasoning skills is essential for individuals in the role of Room Attendant at Homewood Suites. Room Attendants must possess the capacity to analyze situations logically, make sound decisions, and prioritize tasks effectively to maintain the cleanliness and organization of guest rooms. Additionally, they need to be able to adapt to changing circumstances quickly, such as accommodating special guest requests or responding promptly to any issues that may arise during their shift. 
Physical Demands: 
 

As a Room Attendant at Homewood Suites, you will engage in various physical activities that require stamina, agility, and attention to detail. You will spend a lot of time on your feet cleaning and organizing guest rooms. The job involves lifting and moving items like linens and supplies, so physical strength and safe lifting practices are important to avoid injuries. Precise hand-eye coordination is needed for handling delicate items and using cleaning equipment effectively.

In this role, you will often stand, walk, bend, and reach. You must handle objects with your hands, including repetitive wrist and finger movements. You will need to lift, move, push, or pull objects weighing up to 50 lbs. Good vision is necessary, including close and distant vision, color and peripheral vision, and depth perception. Reasonable accommodations are available for individuals with disabilities.
