Overview
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professionals to join our Day Service team. This role provides vital assistance to individuals with developmental disabilities, ensuring their safety, well-being, and engagement in community activities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in patient care, personal assistance, and supporting individuals with diverse needs. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve through personalized care and support.
Responsibilities
- Assist individuals with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Provide medication administration and monitor vital signs as outlined in care plans
- Support residents with meal preparation, feeding, and nutritional needs
- Implement and follow individualized care plans tailored to each person's needs
- Assist with mobility using equipment such as Hoyer lifts or resident lifts to ensure safety during transfers
- Engage clients in social activities, recreational outings, and community integration efforts
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light cleaning duties and adhering to infection control protocols
- Observe and report on residents' health status, behavior changes, or safety concerns following HIPAA guidelines
- Support residents with specialized care needs such as Alzheimer's, dementia, autism, or other developmental disabilities
- Document care activities accurately and maintain compliance with all regulatory standards including HIPAA and confidentiality policies
Experience
Candidates should possess relevant experience such as group home work, assisted living or long-term care experience, home health or hospice care background, or working with individuals with disabilities. Skills that are highly valued include first aid certification, CPR certification, patient observation skills, medication administration knowledge, and familiarity with care plans. Experience working with seniors or individuals requiring memory care or dementia support is preferred. Prior exposure to assisted living environments or nursing homes is advantageous. Candidates must demonstrate patience, compassion, excellent communication skills, and the ability to handle heavy lifting when necessary. A background in social work or home & community care will be considered a plus for this role.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $ $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 8 – 40 per week
