Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated Junior Surveyor to join our civil engineering and land surveying team. This entry-level position offers an excellent opportunity to develop foundational skills in land surveying, data collection, and mapping technologies. The ideal candidate will support senior surveyors in fieldwork and office tasks, gaining practical experience with advanced surveying tools and software. A strong interest in civil engineering, geometry, and GIS is essential for success in this role.
Responsibilities
- Assist with bridge, roadway, railroad, and land surveying projects, including data collection using GPS and Total Stations
- Support the setup and operation of survey equipment
- Conduct field measurements and record data accurately for topographic surveys and construction layouts
- Preparing drawings using AutoCAD and Civil 3D software is not required, but it is encouraged
- Support the creation of detailed maps and GIS data layers
- Collaborate with team members to interpret survey data using trigonometry, algebra, geometry, and math principles
- Assist in preparing documentation for the surveys
- Ensure compliance with safety standards during fieldwork activities
Experience
- Basic knowledge of land surveying principles and civil engineering concepts
- Familiarity with CAD software such as AutoCAD and Civil 3D is preferred
- Understanding of GIS platforms like ArcGIS or similar tools is a plus
- Experience with GPS technology or Trimble equipment is advantageous but not required
- Strong skills in math including algebra, trigonometry, and geometry to support accurate measurements and calculations
- Prior exposure to drafting or schematic creation using CAD programs is beneficial
- Knowledge of construction processes and data collection techniques will be considered an asset
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks as needed

Pay: $75, $90,000.00 per year
