Our growing logistics operation in Columbus, Ohio, is seeking a diligent Material Handler to join our team. This role is essential for the smooth flow of goods within our distribution center. As a Material Handler, you will be responsible for the movement, organization, and storage of materials and products, ensuring inventory accuracy and workplace safety. You will operate various pieces of equipment and follow strict safety protocols to handle materials effectively. The ideal candidate is physically fit, safety-conscious, and possesses a strong work ethic.
Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently to move inventory throughout the warehouse.
- Receive, unload, and inspect incoming materials, verifying contents against purchase orders and identifying any damages.
- Store materials in designated locations, ensuring proper organization, rotation, and accessibility.
- Pick and stage materials for production or shipment according to work orders and schedules.
- Maintain accurate inventory records by accurately recording movements and locations of materials.
- Conduct regular safety checks on all material handling equipment and report any issues immediately.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies, including the strict use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, and safety shoes.
- Assist in keeping the warehouse clean, organized, and free of hazards.
- Support the logistics team by performing other duties as assigned, including loading and unloading trucks.
- Ensure efficient workflow by managing material flow to and from various departments.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience as a Material Handler or in a similar warehouse role required.
- Valid forklift operator certification is a strong asset.
- Proven ability to operate various types of material handling equipment safely.
- Physical ability to lift heavy objects (up to 60 lbs), stand, walk, bend, and stoop for extended periods.
- Excellent understanding of warehouse safety procedures and the importance of using PPE.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced logistics environment.
- Good communication skills.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
