We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Shipping Clerk for our facility in Madison, Wisconsin. This critical role involves overseeing the dispatch of all outbound shipments, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with shipping regulations. You will be responsible for preparing documentation, coordinating with transportation partners, and maintaining organized shipping logs. A thorough understanding of logistics and a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment are essential. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Your contribution will be vital to the smooth operation of our distribution center.
Responsibilities:
- Generate and process shipping labels and related documentation (e.g., bills of lading).
- Schedule and coordinate freight pickups with various carriers.
- Verify shipment contents against order details to ensure accuracy.
- Package outgoing goods securely and efficiently, following company standards.
- Maintain comprehensive and accurate shipping records, updating the system as required.
- Conduct regular audits of shipping supplies and reorder as necessary.
- Liaise with internal departments to resolve any shipping-related discrepancies or issues.
- Strictly adhere to all company safety protocols, including the consistent use of appropriate PPE.
- Assist with other warehouse tasks to support overall logistics operations when needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree a plus.
- Proven experience in a shipping, receiving, or logistics support role.
- Proficiency in using shipping software and WMS.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize effectively.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Capacity to lift up to 35 pounds occasionally.
- Awareness of safety best practices and the importance of wearing PPE.
- Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and contribute positively to a team.
- Adaptability to changing workloads and schedules.
