Radiology Technician

Summary of Duties: Prepares radiology area and patients for medical imaging, positioning them according to the study requested by the provider, and takes high quality diagnostic x-rays. Attends to patient's needs and maintains the x-ray room and equipment as advised.

Essential Job Functions:
- Maintains strictest confidentiality.
- Accurately follows diagnostic imaging guidelines and legal requirements to ensure compliance with federal and state regulatory bodies.
- Prepares radiology room for the patient.
- Positions patient's and equipment, explaining the procedures, and ensuring patient's comfort.
- Monitors the patient during the study, ensuring their safety.
- Inputs commands and data into the imaging system, adjusting density and contrast to obtain high-quality images.
- Updates the patient records.
- Reports important patient information to the provider as needed.
- Performs scheduled testing and maintenance on equipment.
- Monitors supplies and submits order requests as needed.
- Keeps radiology room tidy and clean.
- Participates in educational activities (webinars, newsletters, on-line training) as required to remain current ARRT credentials.
- Performs other related duties, which may be inclusive, but not listed in the job description.

- Knowledge of computerized practice management systems.
- Knowledge of radiology equipment and technology.
- Knowledge of computerized software programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Knowledge of legal and regulatory government provisions.

Interpersonal Communication Requirements:

Education, Certificate/License, and Experience:
- Associate degree in radiologic technology required
- Certifications: Current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) required
- Minimum Experience: Two years as a Radiology Technician preferred.
Physical Demands and Typical Working Conditions:
Requires prolonged standing, some bending, stooping, and stretching. Requires eye-hand coordination and full range of body motion, including handling and lifting patients. Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator, and other office equipment. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare and communicate appropriate reports. Occasional stress from varying demands. Must be able to work independently. Must be able to lift/carry up to 50 pounds.
Work is performed in a busy office environment. Frequent contact with employees, patients, physicians and outside agencies. Occasional evening or weekend work.
