Primary Purpose:
Under general supervision, perform bookkeeping and maintain district campus records. All employees of SMSD are expected to act with integrity, support, and demonstrate our core values, communicate in a clear and respectful manner, and seek to continuously improve self-performance and processes.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
· High school diploma or GED
· Two years college course work in accounting-related subjects
Special Knowledge/Skills:
· Ability to analyze and interpret financial data
· Ability to analyze and evaluate accounting problems and recommend improved procedures
· Knowledge of TxEIS preferred
· Ability to use personal computer and software to develop complex accounting reports/spreadsheets
· Ability to work with numbers in an accurate and rapid manner
· Effective communication and interpersonal skills
· Ability to interpret policy, procedures, and data
Experience:
· One year accounting or bookkeeping experience
Major Responsibilities and Duties:Accounting
Maintain complete and systematic records of assigned campus financial transactions.
Prepare and process campus purchase orders.
Work with campus officials to ensure completeness and accuracy of invoices and shipments.
Detect and resolve problems with incorrect orders, invoices, and shipments for the campus.
Examine all campus general ledger transactions for accuracy; make corrections as needed and inform supervisor of problems.
Compute and record cash receipt summaries.
Assist with campus budget preparation.
Records
Assist with preparation of accounting related documentation for the campus.
Maintain accurate physical and computerized files and records.
Maintain inventory of fixed assets, equipment, and supplies.
Other
Display tolerance necessary for accepting supervision for and criticism of job performance.
Work in harmony with supervisory, faculty, and peer personnel.
Use professional information discreetly and judiciously.
Support and follow administrative and Board policy.
Represent the school system to the community in a positive and professional way.
Maintain a sincere, friendly attitude toward patrons and always exhibit excellent customer service.
Be available by phone, email, or video conferencing to confer with district/campus personnel.
Regular attendance is required.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
