POSITION SUMMARY:

Develop and maintain an effective tactical machine press repair support system for our manufacturing plants to achieve optimal levels of safety, quality, productivity and delivery to assure internal and external customer satisfaction.

JOB TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following job/task functions have been identified as the core functions of this position. However, the supervisor or manager may assign additional duties associated with this position.

  • Support the Company's mission, vision, values and goals in the performance of daily activities.

  • Provides direction and leadership to the Press Repair team and plant maintenance teams and the plant leadership team consistent with company, department and plant business plans.

  • Responsible for the performance appraisal of direct reports. Responsibilities include mentoring, coaching, counseling and corrective action when situations dictate.

  • Responsible for assisting in the identification, selection, training and coaching of machine press repair team and supervisory talent.

  • Assess and build leadership bench-strength and organizational capabilities as well as create a collaborative high performance work environment.

  • Provides guidance and counsel to leadership and functional management teams on a variety of issues including machine press repair standards, problem solving, continuous improvement, associate development, team building, etc.

  • Provide technical guidance to Machine Repair team on press and machine repair and projects

  • Provide technical guidance to Machine Repair team on equipment moves

  • Oversee and communicate job status and department issues to direct and cross functional leadership

  • Special Upgrade Projects

  • Provide cost estimates to internal customers

  • Oversee and schedule internal projects and repairs

  • Assess training needs and develop tools to effectively address associate development

  • Plans and delivers machine repair services in support of plant and company objectives.

  • Develop and implement corporate standardization activities as it relates to machine press repair.

  • Provide active leadership role in meeting / exceeding internal customer expectations in all related areas.

  • Utilize teamwork to develop department synergy.

  • Guide and teach problem solving methods for related press repair issues.

  • Monitor and report out on key financial and operating metrics to Vice President of Axis

  • Responsible for ensuring the entire team has the necessary tools and materials to properly perform their roles safely and efficiently.

  • Maintain a positive working relationship with all levels of the organization.

  • Travel 25-50%

LEADERSHIP/SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and drive the development of machine press repair strategy and goals along with identifying and tracking key measurable to support the goals.

  • Use company metric format to effectively track monitor and implement required corrective/improvement activities related to business plan, goals, issues, etc

  • Ensure that all policies and required operating procedures and work instructions are being followed.

  • Represent the company by interfacing with suppliers on parts and services

  • Facilitate communication with internal customers

  • Maintain a current knowledge of advancements in Stamping Press technology, maintenance, and repair methods

  • Ensure accountability and discipline within the department.

  • Comply with all internal and OSHA required safety procedures in the performance of daily activities and hold all direct reports accountable for enforcement.

  • Adherence to all company policies and procedures

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent

  • Minimum ten (10) years as a in an automotive environment supporting machine press repair, and six (6) years management experience.

REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Interpret mechanical, electrical and hydraulic drawings and related technical information manuals

  • Familiarity with Press automation and control technology

  • Problem solve Press repair issues

  • Direct the team on proper Press repair methods

  • Direct the team on proper Press inspection and preventative maintenance methods

  • Diagnosis Press performance issues and identify an appropriate repair strategy

  • Proven leadership ability and excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to interpret financial and performance data.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS, WORK ENVIRONMENT AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Duties include but are not limited to stand, walk, twist, bend, lift, see, talk and hear, with an ability to travel. When visiting plant site locations, employees may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, vibration or hazardous materials.
