Job Title: Veterinary Assistant
Job Description: The Vet Vision Center is hiring a motivated Veterinary Assistant / Kennel Attendant to join our busy, boutique ophthalmology specialty practice in Lambertville, NJ. The hospital was renovated in 2022 from the ground up to offer an ultramodern facility and support an elevated and high-touch client experience. We conduct both medical consultations and surgical procedures with an amazing team of CSRs, Vet Assistants, CVTs, and management to support our 2 full-time Ophthalmology doctors.
The ideal candidate is passionate about veterinary medicine, interested in the specialty of ophthalmology, enjoys working in a fast-paced, bustling environment, and desires to provide exceptional client and patient care. The assistants primary role will be supporting the Veterinary Assistants and CVTs with patient care, with focus on cleaning and maintaining the exam rooms, treatment room, and operating rooms.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain cleanliness of examination rooms and equipment during outpatient consults
- Maintain stock of examination and testing supplies in exam rooms
- Assist with ophthalmic examinations using proper restraint techniques
- Maintain cleanliness of treatment room and operating rooms
- Maintain cleanliness of animal caging and hospital laundry
- Assist during ophthalmic procedures and surgeries
- Provide care to hospitalized patients including walking, feeding, and basic medical care
- Assist with basic ophthalmic diagnostic tests (Schirmer tear test, fluorescein stain, and tonometry)
- Assist with advanced ophthalmic diagnostics (ocular ultrasound, electroretinography, CT scans)
Skills:
- Able to comfortably work with cats and dogs
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment in multiple roles and maintain a positive team focus
- Able to position self to restrain animals and clean, including moving onto the floor, stooping, kneeling, or crouching
- Requires the ability to perform physical tasks in a physically challenging environment for extended periods
- Basic computer skills
- Detail oriented with the ability to following specific treatment plans and record accurate information in the electronic medical record.
- A desire to learn about veterinary medicine and the specialty of ophthalmology
Education & Experience:
- High school or equivalent: Preferred
- Veterinary medicine experience: Preferred

Job Type and Schedule:
- Full-time position Monday to Friday 10am-6pm
- Hours of Hospital Operation: Monday-Friday 7:30 am – 5:30 pm
Pay:
- $16 - $18+ per hour commensurate with experience
