Position OverviewMedication Technicians assist in ensuring the health and well-being of residents by providing personal care and supporting the safe self-administration of medications (excluding injectable medications). This role works closely with licensed nursing staff to deliver high-quality care in accordance with each resident's plan of care, Elderwood standards, and all applicable regulations.

Responsibilities:
Medication TechnicianMedication Support
- Assist with safe, proper administration of medications and treatments as ordered, following the Five Rights of Medication Administration
- Ensure proper storage, labeling, and handling of medications, including controlled substances
- Monitor residents for changes in condition and promptly report concerns to licensed nursing staff
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation (e.g., change in condition, transfers, STOP & WATCH, electronic systems)
Resident Care & Support
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, eating, and mobility (per training and supervision guidelines)
- Respond promptly and respectfully to resident requests
- Support resident dignity, comfort, and personal preferences at all times
Collaboration & Communication
- Participate in change-of-shift reports and care coordination
- Communicate effectively with nurses, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members
- Assist with dining services as needed
Safety, Compliance & Professional Standards
- Follow all Elderwood policies, procedures, and safety standards
- Use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold HIPAA compliance
- Participate in required training, meetings, and in-service education
Qualifications:
Medication Technician- Minimum age: 18 years
- Skilled Nursing Facilities: CNA or LNA required
- Vermont only: State authorization as a Medication Nurse Assistant (MNA) required
- Successful completion of a Medication Technician training program (preferred)
- Ability to pass the Elderwood Medication Technician competency test
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
- Long-term care experience (preferred)
- Completion of required RCA training modules within designated onboarding timeframe
