Position Summary: Responsible for a specific production operation including packaging. Also, responsible for supervising employees, organizing and monitoring the workflow.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.

  • Accomplishes manufacturing staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees, developing personal growth opportunities.
  • Maintains workflow by monitoring steps of the process, setting variables, observing control points and equipment, monitoring personnel, monitoring resources, studying methods, implementing cost reductions, develop reporting procedures and systems.
  • Facilitating corrections to malfunctions within process control points and initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between departments.
  • Completes production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel, accomplishing work results, establishing priorities, monitoring progress, revising schedules, resolving problems, and reporting results of the processing flow on shift production summaries.
  • Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organizational standards.
  • Ensures operation of equipment by calling for repairs, evaluate new equipment, and evaluates new techniques.
  • Provides manufacturing information by compiling, initiating, sorting, and analyzing production performance records and data, and answer questions/ respond to requests.
  • Creates and revises systems and procedures by analyzing operating practices, record-keeping systems, forms of control, budgetary, personnel requirements, and implementing change.
  • Maintains safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment, and resources.
  • Maintain compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Resolves personnel problems by analyzing data, investigating issues, identifying solutions, and recommending action.
  • Establish and support a work environment of continuous improvement that supports company's quality policy, quality system, and the appropriate regulations for the area they support.
  • Ensure employees are trained to do their work and their training is documented.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, benchmarking state-of-the-art practices, and participating in professional societies.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Completes other duties and projects as assigned by the department manager including, but not limited to; process improvements, cost savings, and efficiencies.
  • Takes responsibility of work area to produce a safe and quality food product. Reports all food safety and quality related problems to your manager and to the QA department to initiate immediate action.

Qualifications

Specific Knowledge, Skills, Licenses, Certifications, Etc.: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Required education generally equivalent to an associate's degree; bachelor's degree in business or related field preferred, with a combination of experience or skills acceptable; 3 to 5 years of manufacturing, high speed packaging, or food manufacturing experience; two to five years' successful leadership experience.
  • Requires a thorough understanding of GMP's, HACCP, and SQF Guidelines.
  • Must be HACCP certified.
  • Requires mathematical skills that require the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide and perform metric conversions.
  • Requires excellent oral written communication skills to interact with and provide work direction to employees.
  • Must be certified in forklift operation.
  • Ability to use other industrial equipment as needed.
  • Must be trained as an authorized employee under LOTO.
  • Proven competency in the following areas: coaching, managing processes, process improvement, strategic planning, and dealing with complexity.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively use office systems, communication, and software told currently used in the OWS office environment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet, humid, refrigerated, or freezer conditions consistent with working in a food processing facility. The noise level in the work environment is very loud. The employee is regularly exposed to extreme cold and vibration. Company provides: rubber gloves, metal gloves, cooler coats, sleeve protectors, aprons, bump cap, hair net, beard net, and ear plugs.
