Job Summary:  

Responsible for the development, implementation, and management of the Safety, Health and Environmental systems to ensure regulatory compliance and to achieve continual improvement in terms of an accident free and healthy workplace.


Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Advises and assists the site's management, production leaders and employees on Safety, Health and Environmental related issues.
  2. Serves as the sites Safety specialist and directs the Safety Committee in all safety activities including training, employee focused Safety initiatives, monthly facility safety audits, LOTO verification and site assessments.
  3. Manage all aspects of the workers compensation program, conducting quarterly claims reviews meetings with the safety committee, communicate with health care providers, employees and insurance companies as needed, conduct post-accident onsite drug screens.
  4. Coordinates the investigation of accidents and incidents that occur to determine root causes and recommends corrective action to prevent reoccurrence.
  5. Develops and maintains accurate statistics and reports on work related injuries, to identify trends that require corrective action.
  6. Conducts and documents regular Safety, Environment and EPA Audits of the facility to ensure regulatory compliance.
  7. Monitor, revise, and implement ongoing updates in safety regulations, laws or reporting requirements
  8. Create, implement and maintain all safety procedures.
  9. Plan, develop and implement safety training for new employees and annual required programs.
  10. Order and maintain inventory of all Personal Protective Equipment.
  11. Identify and evaluate hazardous conditions and practices in the workplace, conduct and coordinate on-site inspections to audit physical conditions and safe work practices. Provide advice and counseling for all compliance regulations.
  12. Coordinate biological monitoring, air sampling, and annual audiograms, and follow-up as necessary.
  13. Maintain OSHA 300 log and other safety related statistics.
  14. .Maintain SDS file and chemical list.
  15. Conducts hourly employee and management safety meetings.
  16. Responsible for Near Miss and Safety Suggestion Program.
  17. Establish, implement, maintain and review Environmental system per the ISO14001 requirements
  18. Review Wegmann Automotive's products, manufacturing process, and other activities for environmental aspects/impacts.
  19. Responsible for coordinating the proper disposal of all waste generated.
  20. Maintain and audit hazardous waste storage area.
  21. Responsible for SPCC plan.
  22. Performs an active role as Spill Coordinator.
  23. Perform other duties as required or requested.

Qualifications

Education and Experience: 

  1. Bachelor's Degree required; EHS or Engineering preferred
  2. At least five (5) years' experience in Health and Safety preferred.
  3. Excellent verbal & written communication skills.
  4. Attention to detail
