Project Controls Specialist
Position Summary

The Staff Project Controls Specialist at Augment Professional Services (APS) leads day-to-day project controls activities and supports the execution of engineering, procurement, and construction projects. This role is responsible for developing and maintaining cost, schedule, forecasting, and reporting systems while ensuring project setup and data integrity within enterprise planning and controls software. The position serves as a technical resource to the project team and supports decision-making to ensure projects are delivered within budget and schedule.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead project controls processes with internal and client project management teams.

  • Ensure proper project setup in the Enterprise Planning & Controls software.

  • Analyze data, review logs, and run reports using enterprise planning tools.

  • Create and maintain Work Breakdown Structures (WBS).

  • Develop, implement, and maintain schedules, cost reports, cash flows, and forecasts.

  • Follow project execution plans and support EPC planning and logistics.

  • Serve as a point of contact for technical project controls questions.

  • Approve purchase orders and subcontracts for proper cost coding.

  • Input and document changes to cost reports and forecasts.

  • Interface with project management and accounting teams to review costs, contingencies, and support audits.

  • Review upstream (prime contract) and downstream (purchase order and subcontract) change orders.

  • Develop and present cash flow reports.

  • Apply and review logic ties within schedules.

  • Monitor and support resource-loaded schedules.

  • Support Interactive Project Planning Meetings (IPPM).

  • Create schedule reports and determine appropriate reporting formats.

  • Develop and analyze scheduling reports and backup documentation.

  • Consult with project teams on schedule progress.

  • Perform schedule what-if scenarios.

  • Develop and maintain earned value management systems.

  • Input and validate progress measurement data.

  • Develop and maintain progress curves.

  • Perform material takeoffs.

  • Perform quality checks and inspections on project controls deliverables.

  • Perform field audits to validate reporting accuracy.

  • Assist with project forensic analysis.

  • Comply with all APS policies, safety standards, and client requirements.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or related field.

  • 3+ years of direct project controls experience.

  • Applicable experience may be substituted for degree requirement.

Technical Skills
  • Experience with Oracle Primavera P6 preferred.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

  • Working knowledge of scheduling, cost control, forecasting, and earned value.

Professional Skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Willingness to take a field assignment.

Certifications
  • OSHA 10-hour safety certification (ability to obtain required).
