Virtue Recovery Houston is currently seeking a Weekend Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) to join our nationally accredited, evidence-based detoxification and residential program. We provide treatment and support for individuals suffering from addiction, alcoholism, and dual diagnosis disorders. Our facility is staffed 24/7 by nurses, behavioral health technicians, and other addiction professionals with decades of combined experience. Virtue Recovery Houston offers a safe, structured, and supportive environment where individuals can begin recovery and learn healthier ways to cope with life's challenges.

Position Schedule: Saturday–Sunday (8:00AM-4:00PM or 4:00PM-12:00AM)

Overview of the Position

The Weekend BHT serves as a critical frontline member of the treatment team, providing direct client care, support, and supervision during weekend programming. This role focuses on maintaining client safety, supporting engagement in treatment activities, and ensuring facility operations run smoothly during weekend hours. The Weekend BHT works collaboratively with nursing staff, clinical team members, and leadership to support continuity of care.

Virtue Recovery Houston is seeking an applicant with the following attributes:

  • Military service (preferred)
  • Excellent bedside manner and ability to build rapport with clients
  • Calm, professional, and supportive demeanor in high-stress situations
  • Ability to work collaboratively with nursing, clinical, and operational staff
  • Understanding of or willingness to learn 12-step support groups and recovery principles
  • Strong sense of accountability, reliability, and professionalism
  • Open to feedback and committed to personal and professional growth
  • Demonstrates empathy, integrity, and a non-judgmental approach to client care

Specific Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct supervision and support to clients in detoxification and residential settings during weekend shifts
  • Ensure the safety, structure, and therapeutic integrity of the milieu at all times
  • Conduct client rounds, room checks, and safety checks per program policy
  • Support client engagement in groups, activities, and treatment programming
  • Assist clients with daily living activities as needed while promoting independence
  • Monitor client behavior and promptly report concerns to nursing or clinical staff
  • Document observations, incidents, and client interactions accurately in the electronic health record
  • Intervene appropriately with clients who are struggling with treatment compliance or emotional regulation
  • Assist with AMA prevention efforts and immediately report potential AMA risks to leadership
  • Enforce program rules, boundaries, and expectations in a consistent and respectful manner
  • Communicate effectively with incoming and outgoing staff during shift handoffs
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies, crises, or after-hours client needs
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety of the facility during weekend operations
  • Provide support to other operational staff as needed to ensure continuity of care

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Strong working knowledge of confidentiality laws (HIPAA) and professional ethics
  • Minimum of 1–2 years' experience working with psychiatric or chemical dependency populations (preferred)
  • Understanding of addiction, mental health disorders, and recovery-oriented care
  • Ability to remain calm, professional, and effective in crisis situations
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and observational skills
  • Demonstrates tact, initiative, and sound judgment
  • Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR)
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Outlook
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and flexible hours as required
