Avivo's Ending Homelessness division provides pathways to housing for individuals experiencing homelessness. We work with county coordinated entry systems and tribal governments, as well as operating a unique street outreach teams to connect unsheltered individuals with shelter and housing. We assist individuals as they find and maintain housing, supporting them in scattered-site apartments in the community as well as site-based housing.

Your Role
As a Resident Advocate, you'll play an essential role in creating a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment for individuals experiencing homelessness. You'll work alongside a deeply committed team of professionals, helping residents feel respected, seen, and supported as they take steps toward stability and housing. This is more than a job—it's a chance to make a difference every day.

Schedule Information

  • Must be available to work first shift days from 6am - 2:30pm

Shift days are: Sunday, Monday Tuesday and Friday

This position is a 32 hr. work week but paid for 40 hrs.
Key Responsibilities Include

  • Build daily, supportive relationships with residents through presence, engagement, and meaningful conversations.
  • Conduct regular safety and wellness checks of rooms, bathrooms, and facility areas—ensuring the safety, cleanliness, and well-being of all residents.
  • Respond to resident needs and emergencies, including administering Narcan and CPR, calling emergency services, and de-escalating mental health or substance-related crises.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the interior and exterior of the facility, including resident rooms, common areas, and surrounding neighborhood space.
  • Distribute meals and follow food safety protocols including storage, temperature checks, and disposal.
  • Assist with room flips by restoring units after discharge—including light repairs, painting, and staging.
  • Support residents during discharge by helping pack belongings and storing them when needed.
  • Actively participate in trainings and initiatives around harm reduction, trauma-informed care, and motivational interviewing.
  • Accurately document key information using the electronic health record (EHR) system.
  • Communicate clearly with team members, supervisors, and residents, maintaining professionalism and confidentiality at all times.

Qualifications

What You Offer

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; education or coursework in human services, health, or related fields preferred.
  • Two years of experience supporting individuals impacted by homelessness, substance use, or mental health challenges.
  • Lived experience will be valued as part of the qualifications.
  • CPR certification or willingness to obtain immediately.
  • Strong communication and crisis de-escalation skills.
  • Familiarity with harm reduction, trauma-informed care, and housing-first principles.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., perform physical tasks such as cleaning or painting, and work on your feet for extended periods.
