Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will support licensed physical therapists in delivering high-quality patient care in home health setting. This role offers an opportunity to work with diverse patient populations, including geriatrics, pediatrics, orthopedics, and those in acute care. The PTA will play a vital role in implementing treatment plans, assisting with discharge planning, and ensuring optimal recovery outcomes for patients.
Responsibilities
- Assist licensed physical therapists in developing and implementing individualized care plans tailored to patient needs.
- Provide direct patient care through therapeutic exercises, manual therapy techniques such as trigger point therapy, and mobility training.
- Monitor and document patient progress accurately, adjusting interventions as directed by the supervising therapist.
- Support patients in various settings including inpatient units, outpatient clinics, skilled nursing facilities, home health visits, and pediatric or geriatric care environments.
- Educate patients and their families on therapeutic exercises, safety precautions, and discharge instructions to promote ongoing recovery.
- Maintain a safe and clean treatment environment adhering to all health and safety protocols.
- Participate in discharge planning by assessing patient needs and coordinating with healthcare teams for seamless transitions of care.
Qualifications
- Valid certification or license as a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA).
- Proven experience or familiarity with physiotherapy practices across multiple settings such as inpatient, outpatient, skilled nursing facilities, home health, or clinics.
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and the principles of physiotherapy.
- Skilled in various therapeutic techniques including trigger point therapy and manual therapy.
- Experience working with diverse populations including geriatrics, pediatrics, orthopedics, and patients requiring care in acute or chronic conditions.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams on care plans and discharge strategies.
