Starting Pay: $20–$24 per hour
$25–$30 per hour for candidates with strong help desk experience and demonstrated customer-service excellence

About the Role

Customer service is the most important part of this job.

Protronics is a growing computer support company serving multiple business clients throughout the Sacramento region. We are looking for a customer-focused Help Desk Technician who enjoys working with end users, answering calls, and solving everyday technology issues with patience and professionalism.

This role is ideal for someone who:

What You'll Be Doing

  • Answer inbound support calls and service requests
  • Provide friendly, professional support to non-technical users
  • Troubleshoot and resolve common IT issues
  • Explain solutions in simple, easy-to-understand terms
  • Manage support tickets from start to finish
  • Keep customers informed and reassured throughout the process
  • Escalate issues appropriately when needed
  • Work closely with teammates and follow established service processes

Customer Service Is Critical

We are specifically looking for someone who:

  • Is patient and empathetic with frustrated users
  • Listens carefully before jumping to technical conclusions
  • Remains calm during busy or stressful situations
  • Enjoys helping people who may not understand technology
  • Works well within a structured, team-based environment

Strong communication and customer-service skills are more important than advanced technical expertise.

Technical Skills (Beginning to Intermediate)

You do not need to be a senior engineer. Expected experience includes:

  • Windows desktop support
  • Email and basic cloud applications
  • Printers and common office hardware
  • Remote support tools
  • Basic networking concepts (Wi-Fi, routers, switches)
  • Experience working within a ticketing system (AutoTask, ConnectWise, or similar)

Training and clear processes are provided.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1–2+ years in a help desk, service desk, or customer support role
  • Experience supporting end users in a business environment
  • Ability to manage multiple tickets and tasks
  • Comfortable asking questions and collaborating with a team
  • Certifications (A+, Net+, CCNA) are a plus, but not required
