At Wonder Math, we don't just teach math - we bring it to life. Our unique, story-based curriculum turns every session into an interactive mission where students become the heroes of their own learning journey. As a Wonder Math Instructor, you'll lead small groups of 2nd-7th grade students through weekly, one-hour virtual classes that build confidence, spark curiosity, and improve core math skills.

The Role

We are seeking exceptional, warm, and engaging elementary and middle school math educators to lead small-group online sessions. This is a part-time, remote position is ideal for credentialed teachers who love teaching, storytelling, and creating joyful learning experiences online.

In each session, you'll guide a small group of students through a one-hour, story-based math adventure using Wonder Math's curriculum. You'll bring the story to life, teach Common Core-aligned math concepts with clarity and enthusiasm, and create a classroom culture where curiosity, effort, and mistakes are celebrated.

What You'll Do

  • Teach live, online small-group math sessions (typically 3–4 students) for elementary and middle school learners
  • Lead students through Wonder Math's story-based curriculum, guiding characters through challenges while teaching core math concepts
  • Foster a growth-mindset classroom where students feel safe taking risks, asking questions, and making mistakes
  • Use questioning, discussion, and visual models to build conceptual understanding and critical thinking
  • Build strong relationships with and between students by being encouraging, responsive, and engaging
  • Communicate with parents after sessions to: share progress and wins, highlight areas for additional growth and offer thoughtful, actionable suggestions for support at home
  • Provide feedback to the Wonder Math team to help continually improve the student experience

Who You Are

You are not just good at math — you are excellent at teaching it.

You might be a current or former classroom teacher, math specialist, tutor, or educator who:

  • Loves working with elementary and middle school-aged students

  • Believes that how children learn is just as important as what they learn

  • Understands that confidence and mindset are foundational to math success

  • Brings warmth, energy, and creativity to every lesson

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years experience teaching or tutoring elementary math (grades 2-7 strongly preferred)
  • Strong understanding of foundational math concepts and Common Core standards
  • Comfort teaching in a live online environment
  • Excellent communication skills with both children and parents
  • Reliable technology and a quiet, professional teaching space
  • Teaching credential
  • US Citizen or Resident
  • Minimum of 5 hours per week availability between 3-10 pm EST during the week and 9 am - 4 pm EST weekends as our zoom classes are after school hours and on weekends primarily

Nice to Have

  • Classroom teaching experience
  • Background in math education or elementary education
  • Experience working with students who have math anxiety or learning differences
  • Familiarity with growth-mindset or inquiry-based learning approaches
