Job Summary
Cherished Hearts Private Home Care, LLC is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Certified Peer Specialist (CPS) to join our Mental Health Care Support team. This role is designed for individuals with lived experience in recovery from mental health and/or substance use challenges, who are now ready to guide and support others on their journey. The CPS will provide person-centered support, facilitate peer groups, and promote wellness, self-advocacy, and recovery in both individual and group settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Offer peer support services through structured and unstructured interactions with individuals receiving mental health support.
- Facilitate recovery-based group activities focused on wellness, self-determination, coping skills, and community integration.
- Provide encouragement, share lived experience in a recovery-focused, supportive way.
- Assist participants in identifying personal goals and navigating support systems.
- Work collaboratively with clinical and non-clinical staff as part of an interdisciplinary team.
- Document services accurately and timely in accordance with program and Medicaid standards.
- Attend regular supervision and ongoing training as required.
Required Qualifications
- Current Certified Peer Specialist (CPS) certification in the state of Georgia.
- Lived experience with a mental health or substance use diagnosis, with at least 12 months of continuous recovery.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Strong communication, active listening, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to model recovery values such as hope, empathy, empowerment, and self-determination.
- Must pass a background check and have reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in community-based behavioral health settings.
- Knowledge of WRAP (Wellness Recovery Action Plan), Whole Health Action Management, or other peer-led recovery models.
- Familiarity with documentation in Medicaid-billable service models.
Schedule
- Flexible hours – including daytime and occasional early evening sessions.
- May include some travel to client homes or community locations.
