Cloud Tools Engineer. This job is part of WWT's Strategic Resourcing services. The candidate will be supporting a WWT customer and will be employed by one of WWT's preferred partners. The partner will provide full compensation and benefit information prior to employment with the partner.

Position: Cloud Tools Engineer

Location: Remote - must work EST hours. Can be located in CST or EST only.

Contract: January - June (potential for contract entension)

Rate/Salary:
A reasonable estimate of the current pay range for this position is $75/hr. to $90/hr. hourly C2C. Actual pay will be based on a variety of factors, including shift, location, experience, skill set, performance, licensure and certification, and business needs, and will be set by your employer. The range for this position in other geographic locations may differ. Certain positions may also be eligible for variable incentive compensation, such as bonuses or commissions, that is not included in base pay.

Overview:

This hands-on Cloud Tools Engineering role is responsible for executing the team's activities focused on tools engineering. Key responsibilities include improving platform resiliency, scaling application onboarding, and automating repetitive operational and maintenance tasks. We are looking for a senior level candidate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support execution of Tools Engineering development initiatives including new cloud application builds, environment provisioning, and implementing self-service capabilities across Cloud Services.
  • Assist in development documentation, including scoping, requirements definition, test plans, and run books to ensure collaboration across technology teams and business stakeholders.
  • Communicate and collaborate regularly with Cloud engineering, Cloud architects, technology leaders, product owners, and business partners.
  • Partner with the team on complex issues requiring in-depth analysis of applications and environments.
  • Deliver results by effectively scaling, standardizing, visualizing, or observing core services based on previous experience.
  • Perform proactive daily system monitoring by reviewing system and application logs; respond to, triage, troubleshoot, and remediate incidents.
  • Proactively recommend continuous improvements to scale platform and applications.
  • Repair and recover from failures, coordinating and communicating with impacted stakeholders and clients, escalating issues as appropriate.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot issues across the entire stack, including software, application, and network layers.
  • Develop automation and processes to enable teams to deploy, manage, configure, scale, and monitor their applications.

Required Experience and Skills:

  • MUST have experience with Observability migration, preferably from Splunk to Datadog (will also consider X to Datadog or Splunk to X).
  • 5+ years of experience in Software Development, DevOps, DecSecOps, or related roles leveraging diverse technologies and coding languages (Java Spring Boot, Python, Golang, Angular).
  • 3+ years of experience working in Cloud Environments such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Proficiency with Terraform is required.
  • Experience with SCM and DevOps tool suites, such as Git, Bitbucket, Bamboo, Jenkins, and Concourse.
  • Strong understanding of operational processes to ensure high availability and service of the full technology stack.
  • Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining Observability platforms for monitoring, logging, and tracing to ensure application and infrastructure health and performance (e.g., Datadog, New Relic, Grafana Cloud).
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve business and service-impacting problems, evaluate alternatives, and collaborate with technical teams.
  • Knowledge of SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS models.
  • Ability to work effectively with global teams.
  • Flexibility to operate in an environment with changing demands and priorities.
