OpsLab is looking for an OR Engineer You will be part of the Operations Research team, reporting directly to the CTO, Dr. Sujeevraja Sanjeevi.

Due to the need to work on DoD projects, we only consider applications from US citizens. Currently, we are unable to sponsor visas.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain optimization models that solve complex resource-allocation and scheduling problems across logistics, transportation, manufacturing, supply chain, and routing domains.
  • Support development and maintenance of OpsLab software that addresses operational challenges across USAF squadrons.
  • Update and refine optimization logic as requirements evolve while ensuring mathematical correctness and robustness.
  • Conduct applied research, prototyping, and algorithm development to improve solution quality, speed, and operational value.
  • Work at the intersection of OR and ML to drive product adoption by applying techniques like preference learning and automatic recalibration.
  • Develop minimum-viable prototypes for new OR-driven product capabilities.
  • Contribute to technical writing, including internal documentation and proposal support for research funding.

Qualifications

  • PhD strongly preferred; Master's in Operations Research required.
  • U.S. citizenship (mandatory).
  • Strong foundation in optimization, statistics, probability, and applied data science.
  • Experience with mathematical modeling for scheduling, resource allocation, routing, logistics, transportation, or supply chain problems.
  • Proficiency in Kotlin, Java, or C++ (or strong willingness/ability to learn quickly).
  • Familiarity with solvers such as Gurobi, CPLEX, or SCIP.
  • Ability to conduct literature reviews and translate academic OR concepts into practical, deployable solutions.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and mathematical maturity.
  • Software engineering maturity (production-quality code, version control, testing discipline).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
