The Massage Therapist is responsible for delivering professional massage and body therapy treatments in a luxury spa environment. This position ensures all guests receive 4-Star/4-Diamond service while upholding the highest standards of cleanliness, professionalism, and guest care in accordance with industry standards and spa protocols.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs professional massage therapy including Swedish, Deep Tissue/Sports Massage, Reflexology, and Shiatsu/Acupressure.
- Offers holistic healing techniques such as Aromatherapy, Reiki, and Polarity Therapy.
- May perform additional spa services such as skin care treatments, waxing, facials, pedicures, manicures, hairstyling, and makeovers as scheduled or required.
- Ensures proper sanitation and maintenance of all treatment rooms, linens, massage tables, and spa tools.
- Maintains accurate knowledge of current techniques, product use, and treatment enhancements.
- Adheres to spa and safety protocols including guest confidentiality and sanitation standards.
- Communicates effectively with guests to understand preferences and customize treatments accordingly.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities but may provide guidance or support to other team members.
QUALIFICATIONS:

- Must be proficient in various massage techniques and willing to learn new ones as needed.
- Strong understanding of sanitation procedures and spa protocols.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Completion of a state-approved massage therapy program required.
- Current and valid state massage therapy license required.
- Minimum of 1–2 years of professional experience as a licensed massage therapist, preferably in a spa, resort, or wellness center.
- Proficient in a variety of massage techniques, including Swedish, deep tissue, hot stone, and prenatal.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and contraindications related to massage services.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills with the ability to tailor treatments to individual guest needs.
- Ability to maintain accurate treatment records and uphold cleanliness and sanitation standards.
- Prior experience in a luxury spa or hospitality environment is preferred.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS:
Must have successfully completed a background check and obtained a gaming license issued by the Morongo Gaming Agency, as required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Must be able to read and interpret documents in English, such as instructions, guidelines, policies, and procedures. Must also be able to communicate clearly and effectively with team members, management, and guests.

- Communication Skills: Must be able to communicate clearly, professionally, and warmly with guests in person; responsible for consulting on nail care, recommending products or services, and ensuring exceptional customer satisfaction in a relaxing spa setting.
- Lifting and Carrying: Occasionally lifts and carries nail supplies, polish displays, tools, and sanitation equipment weighing up to 25 pounds; may assist with inventory restocking or workstation setup.
- Manual Dexterity: Continuously uses hands and fingers with precision for manicures, pedicures, nail art, cuticle work, polishing, filing, and use of fine tools; must maintain high levels of hand control and coordination throughout appointments.
- Mobility: Frequently moves within spa treatment areas to greet guests, sanitize workstations, access supplies, and escort guests to and from service areas; requires the ability to stand or move between seated stations.
- Stationary Work: Frequently remains seated for extended periods while performing detailed nail services at a workstation; must maintain ergonomic positioning during back-to-back client appointments.
- Tool Operation: Regular use of nail clippers, electric files, UV/LED lamps, cuticle pushers, buffers, sanitizing tools, and spa point-of-sale systems; responsible for maintaining all tools in clean and safe condition.
- Visual Acuity: Requires excellent close vision to perform intricate nail work, apply polish and designs precisely, and inspect nails for health or sanitation concerns.
- Working Conditions: Routinely operates in a spa environment with soft lighting, scented products, and ambient music; occasional exposure to chemicals such as acetone or polish remover; may encounter a smoking environment when transitioning through public or casino areas.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This is a dynamic, fast-paced environment that requires the ability to adapt and perform under pressure. The casino operates with moderate to loud noise levels and is a smoking environment, requiring team members to work comfortably in these conditions.
WORKING HOURS:
Morongo Casino Resort & Spa operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year; therefore, flexibility in scheduling is essential. Team members must be available to work shifts that may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events. Schedules are subject to change based on business needs and may include overtime, as well as work on both weekdays and weekends.
