GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:
The Abatement Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and managing abatement projects, ensuring that hazardous materials are safely and e?ectively removed in compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations. This role involves supervising a team of abatement workers, coordinating project logistics, and maintaining safety standards to protect workers and the environment.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Project Management:
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise abatement projects from start to ?nish.
- Ensure all projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
- Conduct site assessments and prepare project plans, including schedules and resource allocation.
- Team Supervision:
- Supervise and direct the activities of abatement workers.
- Provide training and guidance to team members on safety procedures, equipment use, and best practices.
- Monitor team performance and conduct regular evaluations.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure all abatement activities comply with federal, state, and local regulations, including OSHA and EPA guidelines.
- Implement and enforce safety protocols to protect workers, the public, and the environment.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of abatement sites.
Communication and Coordination:
- Liaise with clients, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders to ensure project requirements are met.
- Maintain clear and e?ective communication with team members and management.
- Prepare and submit required documentation, including project reports, safety records, and compliance logs.
- Equipment and Materials Management:
- Oversee the proper use and maintenance of abatement equipment and materials.
- Ensure the availability of necessary supplies and resources for project completion.
- Manage inventory and coordinate the procurement of new equipment as needed.
Requirements
REQUIRED JOB SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Strong knowledge of abatement techniques, materials, and equipment.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Ability to interpret and apply regulations and safety standards.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- E?ective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Pro?ciency in using project management software and tools.
EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in environmental science or a related ?eld is preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in abatement or environmental remediation, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Relevant certi?cations such as Asbestos Supervisor, Lead Abatement Supervisor, or Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) certi?cation.
- First Aid and CPR certi?cation is a plus.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT & CONDITIONS:
- Work is performed both indoors and outdoors, often in hazardous environments.
- Travel to various job sites is required.
- Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including exposure to hazardous materials.
- Physical stamina to perform manual labor and lift heavy objects.
- Willingness to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
