Responsibilities
As the Principal Cloud Architect, you will be responsible for defining and implementing the enterprise-wide cloud and platform strategy. You will lead the development of architectural frameworks, patterns, and standards while ensuring alignment with business objectives and healthcare regulatory requirements. This role combines strategic leadership with deep technical expertise in cloud technologies and platform engineering.

  • Develop and maintain the enterprise cloud and platform architecture framework, ensuring alignment with business strategy and regulatory requirements
  • Lead the design and implementation of enterprise-wide cloud platforms that support healthcare systems, applications, and data
  • Create and evolve reference architectures, patterns, and standards for cloud-native, hybrid, and multi-cloud environments
  • Drive cloud adoption strategies and guide teams through cloud transformation initiatives
  • Design scalable, reliable, and cost-effective cloud infrastructure solutions
  • Lead platform engineering initiatives to improve developer productivity and system reliability
  • Establish cloud governance frameworks and best practices
  • Guide development teams in implementing cloud-native design principles
  • Evaluate emerging cloud technologies and recommend adoption strategies
  • Develop cloud architecture roadmaps aligned with business objectives
  • Lead disaster recovery and business continuity planning at the architecture level
  • Mentor cloud architects and provide technical leadership across the organization
  • Design-in cloud resilience and ensure disaster recovery procedures are documented
  • Evaluate the most advantageous cloud provider for a given use case
  • Help plan and execute cloud application migration activities
  • Ensure effective FinOps practices are in place and well monitored
  • Oversee the cloud solution architecture team, consisting of. Senior Cloud Soluton Architect, a Senior Cloud Security Architect, and a s Sr. Cloud DevOps Architect
  • Drive cloud and platform architecture vision and strategy
  • Lead cloud architecture governance
  • Build and mentor cloud architecture teams
  • Collaborate with leadership on cloud initiatives
  • Represent cloud architecture in enterprise architecture forums
  • Establish and lead the Cloud Architecture Community of Practice and Cloud Center of Excellence

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • 12+ years of IT experience with at least 8 years focused on cloud architecture
  • Extensive experience in healthcare cloud architecture and compliance
  • Deep expertise in major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Strong understanding of cloud-native architectures and design patterns
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker)
  • Proven track record of designing and implementing enterprise-wide cloud solutions
  • Experience with microservices architecture and implementation
  • Strong background in platform engineering and DevOps practices
  • Understanding of healthcare data architecture and integration patterns
  • Must have one or more of the following certifications:

  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional

  • Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert

  • Plus one of the following certifications:

  • TOGAF 9.2 Certified

  • Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)
  • Hashicorp certified Terraform Asociate (highly desired)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Certified ArchiMate 3 Practitioner
  • Experience with cloud-native security architectures
  • Background in AI/ML platform architecture
  • Expertise in Python scripting language
  • Experience with healthcare interoperability platforms (FHIR, HL7)
  • Knowledge of emerging cloud technologies and trends
  • Publications or speaking engagements in cloud architecture
  • Experience with large-scale cloud transformation projects
