Construction Business Development

KLA Construction & Development, Inc. is seeking a construction professional focused on finding, pursuing, and winning new construction projects. This role is not a traditional project management position.

The primary responsibility of this role is business development and preconstruction — identifying opportunities, preparing bids, and securing new work in Tenant Improvements and ground-up commercial construction.

Candidates whose background is primarily managing projects after award may not be a fit for this role at this time.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify and pursue new Tenant Improvement and ground-up commercial construction opportunities
• Develop relationships with owners, developers, brokers, and general contractors
• Lead bid strategy, pricing, and proposal development
• Prepare and submit competitive estimates and bids
• Review plans, specifications, and scopes of work
• Evaluate project feasibility, risk, and profitability
• Maintain and manage a pipeline of active pursuits
• Support the handoff of awarded projects to the operations/project management team

Required Experience & Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in construction with a focus on business development, estimating, or preconstruction
• Proven track record of successfully securing awarded projects
• Strong understanding of construction pricing, scopes, and contracts
• Ability to independently source, pursue, and close new opportunities
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills

Preferred (But Not Required)

• Existing relationships within the commercial construction market
• Experience with Tenant Improvements and/or ground-up commercial projects
• Estimating or preconstruction leadership experience

Compensation

• Base salary plus a percentage of each project awarded
• Performance-based compensation tied directly to work secured

Pay: $60, $100,000.00 per year
