Position Overview

Erik's Ranch & Retreats seeks a dependable, hands-on Building Manager to ensure our Edina property remains safe, well-maintained, and welcoming for guests, residents, and staff. This full-time, on-site role is responsible for the day-to-day upkeep, repair, and smooth operation of the buildings, systems, and equipment within a nonprofit community serving young adults with autism. The Building Manager will perform preventive maintenance, corrective repairs, and facility improvement projects, while also helping coordinate vendors and supporting staff and volunteers as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and perform routine and preventive maintenance on building systems, equipment, and infrastructure.
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify and address safety concerns, repair needs, and general property upkeep.
  • Complete plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and painting tasks within scope of qualifications, and coordinate outside vendors when specialized work is required.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to maintenance requests, ensuring minimal disruption to residents, programs, and operations.
  • Prepare facilities for seasonal changes (snow, ice, HVAC transitions, landscaping, etc.) and ensure mechanical systems are functioning properly.
  • Support renovation and improvement projects, including basic project coordination and on-site oversight as directed.
  • Help ensure the property is safe and accessible during inclement weather, including snow removal, salting, and hazard mitigation.
  • Maintain a clean, orderly, and code-compliant property, including common areas, building exteriors, and grounds.
  • Communicate effectively and respectfully with residents, staff, and volunteers within a neurodiverse community, modeling professionalism and patience at all times.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in building, facility, or apartment maintenance; experience in a residential or multifamily setting preferred
  • Skills in repair, painting, light carpentry, plumbing, or electrical work, with the ability to troubleshoot common building issues.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, work independently, and reliably follow through on assignments.
  • Physical capacity to lift up to 50 pounds and perform maintenance duties in varied indoor and outdoor environments.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, attention to detail, and professional conduct in all interactions.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work respectfully with diverse and neurodiverse individuals.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
