Kids Chem Cook Instructor

Kids Chem Cook is seeking an enthusiastic, reliable, patient, and creative Instructor to lead hands-on science and culinary experiences for children. Our instructors bring STEM concepts to life through interactive experiments and kid-friendly cooking activities in a fun, safe, and engaging environment.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with children, has a passion for science and food, and thrives in an energetic, learning-focused setting. Instructors represent the Kids Chem Cook brand at classes, camps, birthday parties, school programs, and community events.

Responsibilities

  • Lead engaging science experiments and cooking activities for children ages 5–12
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment
  • Clearly explain age-appropriate STEM concepts in a fun and relatable way
  • Follow lesson plans, recipes, and safety guidelines provided by Kids Chem Cook
  • Set up and clean up materials before and after classes or events
  • Manage small groups of children and maintain classroom structure
  • Communicate professionally with parents, staff, and partner organizations
  • Assist with camps, birthday parties, school programs, and special events as needed

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with children (teaching, childcare, camps, tutoring, etc.)
  • Interest in science, cooking, STEM, or education (formal background not required)
  • Energetic, dependable, and positive attitude
  • Ability to manage groups of children with patience and enthusiasm
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to follow recipes, lesson plans, and safety procedures
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs (supplies/materials)
  • Reliable Transportation Required
  • Must pass background screening

Schedule & Work Environment:

  • Part-time, flexible schedule
  • Weekday and/or weekend availability preferred
  • Programs held at various locations throughout the Austin area, at facilities, schools, partner sites, and private events

Pay: From $15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 7.0 – 35.0 per week

Work Location: In person
