Description

The School District of La Crosse is accepting applications for 1.0 FTE Apprentice Custodians. This position will primarily work second shift (2:00 pm-10:00 pm) and will float throughout the district where needed. Successful candidate must be willing to work a flexible schedule.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Substitute for custodians in school buildings, able to perform their duties and available to work varying work shifts.
a. Frequent annual task:
i. Job requires heavy physical demands, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, handling, feeling, talking, hearing, smelling, and good/corrected vision.
2. Deliveries from Central storage and preparation kitchens to schools. Moving furniture and equipment between buildings.
a. Occasional annual task:
i. Job requires heavy physical demands, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, handling, feeling, talking, hearing, smelling, and good/corrected vision.
3. Major summer clean-up, minor repairs and painting of buildings, sites and equipment.
a. Frequent seasonal task:
i. Job requires heavy physical demands, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, handling, feeling, talking, hearing, smelling, and good/corrected vision.
4. Assist in maintaining site including mowing, trimming, vegetation control, equipment inspection and policing during the summer; and ice and snow removal at entrances and sidewalks during the winter.
a. Occasional seasonal task:
i. Job requires heavy physical demands, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reading, handling, feeling, hearing, smelling, and good/corrected vision.
5. Positively interact with students, staff, parents and the public, demonstrating the School District of La Crosse Core Values.
6. Other duties deemed necessary by the supervisor.

Qualifications

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

A. High School diploma and driver's license. Required to read and write at a level that would enable the apprentice custodian to interpret written communication effectively.
B. Demonstrates aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities.
C. Physically able to fulfill the job related responsibilities. Actual employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a Job Specific Screening.
D. Ability to effectively work by themselves and in a team environment.
E. Ability to positively interact with students, staff, parents and the public.
