BayWa r.e. Americas is seeking a
Area Manager
to join our
Operations
team.
This position will require managing the Plant in accordance with the O&M agreement. Manage the various components of the PV power plant management program as they relate to day-to-day operations and maintenance at PV plant sites. This overall objective will be achieved by meeting the following plant objectives:
Health and safety performance, environmental stewardship, employee training and development, quality control, work management system, performance management, operation and maintenance of generation assets, evaluation of reliability improvements and technology, process development and oversight, budget development including oversight and adherence.

Success in this role involves:
- Leading the maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting of low, medium, and high voltage equipment such as inverters, combiner boxes, switchgear, transformers, voltage regulators, electrical protective devices, main and auxiliary generators, metering systems and battery support systems.
- Maintain a working knowledge of the applicable National Electric and Electrical safety code(s) (NEC, NFPA70E, NESC, OSHA)
- Completion of all scheduled electric equipment maintenance on time to maximize generation.
- Coordinate on-site project planning, installations, commissioning, quality inspections, and performance testing.
- Write and enforce work and equipment testing instructions and procedures, including normal and maintenance operating procedures.
- Ensure work orders are complete per requirements.
- Ensure all documentation and required reports are reviewed, complete, submitted and filed.
- Gains technical information from electrical schematics, vendors information, and codes.
- Perform current and voltage calculations, as necessary.
- Calibrate plant related instrumentation and use test equipment associated with the solar plant.
- Performs calibrations as necessary and uses test equipment associated with the solar plant.
- Recommend improvements to facilitate company growth.
- Install, maintain, modify, and repair electrical distribution systems.
- Utilize blueprints, wiring diagrams and manufacturer's installation manuals to complete assigned projects.
- Know how to installs and directs the work of the electrical portions of solar installations' wiring, conduit work, sizing of wires and disconnects, interconnecting and other related.
- Develop weekly project schedules and goals.
- Motivates team members to increase their productivity and meet work goals/deadlines.
- Coordinate with management personnel the order of supplies and ensures adequate inventory for projects and project manpower.
- Mindful of proper maintenance and care of company equipment and tools.
- Ability to perform tasks associated with providing annual site budget.
- Ensure all work orders are complete per requirements by technicians.
Physical Requirements:
•
Lift and carry up to 40–50 lbs as needed during inspections, maintenance checks, or field work.
• Walk the full length of solar sites up to several miles daily while performing visual and safety inspections.
• Access equipment enclosures or racking to verify maintenance and safety conditions.
• Spend extended hours outdoors in all weather conditions while supervising or assisting with field activities.
• Maintain mobility and balance while traversing uneven ground, slopes, or compacted surfaces.
• Use and enforce proper PPE, safety procedures, and lockout/tagout practices per OSHA standards.
Your areas of knowledge and expertise
:
The ideal candidate demonstrates:
- Previous Solar experience essential for this role.
- Experience with DC & UPS systems
- Experience and working knowledge of NFPA 70E
- Full clean State Driving License
- Excellent problem solving, communication, decision-making and planning skills
- Demonstratable understanding of NERC compliance for utility-scale systems (for sites >75MW).
- Functional understanding of power generation systems.
- Familiar with medium-voltage electrical systems.
- Familiarity with sections of the National Electric Code 2020 specifically those to PV (section 690/691).
- IT literate overall, with fluency in use of electronic work management system (CMMS),
- Familiarity with Internal equipment calibration and tracking programs preferred.

- Basic understanding of Financials.
- Ability to read and interpret data that may affect day to day operations of the site.
- Has proven leadership capabilities.
Preferred Professional Qualifications & Experience:
- NABCEP Certification
- FAA's Part 107 Small UAS Rule (Drone license)
- First Aid (CPR)
- ASNT certified for planning and conducting thermal imaging (American Society for Non-destructive Testing) or equivalent.
- Familiar with Internal equipment calibration and tracking programs.
