We are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer with deep MSP experience to serve as a senior technical lead, owning complex projects, acting as the final escalation point for the service team, and partnering closely with engineering leadership to maintain and evolve client environments.
This is a hands-on senior role for someone who is comfortable operating at a high level across multiple workstreams, partnering closely with leadership, and stepping into complex or high-impact technical situations when needed.
*Key Responsibilities:*
_Advanced Support and Escalations_
* Act as a primary escalation point for complex technical issues across client environments
* Troubleshoot and resolve advanced server, network, cloud, and security issues
* Support and guide other engineers through difficult technical challenges
* Ensure escalations are handled efficiently, accurately, and professionally
* Participate in security incident response, threat remediation, and environment hardening
* Collaborate with security tooling and MDR platforms to investigate and resolve escalated security events
_Service Delivery_
* Work senior-level incoming tickets alongside project responsibilities
* Balance reactive support with proactive problem resolution
* Maintain high standards for service quality, SLAs, and client satisfaction
_Projects and Infrastructure_
* Lead and execute complex infrastructure projects including server upgrades, cloud migrations, network redesigns, and security initiatives
* Collaborate on technical design, implementation planning, and rollout execution
* Perform server, workstation, and network deployments and replacements
* Participate in technical scoping and post-project reviews
_Client-Facing Work_
* Conduct onsite client visits for escalations, projects, and planned technical work
* Serve as a trusted technical resource during high-impact or sensitive situations
* Communicate clearly with clients on technical findings, recommendations, and next steps
_Documentation and Continuous Improvement_
* Ensure documentation is accurate, complete, and maintained in the PSA
* Contribute to internal standards, technical processes, and best practices
* Identify recurring issues and recommend long-term solutions
*Required Experience and Qualifications:*
* 8 or more years of hands-on MSP experience required
* Proven history acting as a senior escalation engineer in an MSP
* Experience owning both service delivery and project execution
* Experience working in a ConnectWise Manage PSA environment strongly preferred
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to travel to client sites as needed
* Ability to lift up to 35 lbs and perform onsite technical work
* Availability for rotating after-hours on-call support
*Strong technical expertise in:*
* Microsoft 365 and Azure AD
* Windows Server environments
* Networking and firewalls
* Virtualization platforms including VMware and Hyper-V
* PowerShell or automation experience
*Nice to Have:*
* Experience with cybersecurity frameworks such as NIST or CIS
* Advanced firewall and security stack experience
* Experience mentoring other engineers
* Consulting experience across multiple industries
*Certifications:*
* Three or more active industry-recognized IT certifications required
* Microsoft certifications including AZ-104 or MS-700
* CompTIA certifications including Network+ or Security+
* Equivalent industry-recognized certifications
