*Role Summary*
We're seeking an experienced Tier III Engineer to join our talented team in Portland. This is a hybrid position ideal for a senior-level IT professional who thrives in a dynamic MSP environment. You'll serve as a technical leader, handling our most complex infrastructure challenges, designing solutions, mentoring junior team members, and ensuring our clients receive world-class service. This role requires deep expertise across the Microsoft ecosystem, advanced networking and security knowledge, and the ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining exceptional service standards.
*Key Responsibilities*
* Lead complex technical projects from design through implementation and documentation
* Provide advanced troubleshooting and resolution for escalated client issues
* Design, implement, and maintain Microsoft server environments and infrastructure
* Manage and optimize Microsoft 365 environments including security, compliance, and governance. SharePoint architecture and implementation is a key element for many projects.
* Configure and maintain enterprise networking infrastructure, firewalls, and security solutions
* Develop and implement disaster recovery and backup strategies
* Create comprehensive technical documentation and knowledge base articles
* Mentor and provide technical guidance to Tier I and Tier II engineers
* Perform security assessments and implement hardening measures
* Collaborate with clients to understand business needs and recommend technology solutions
* Manage virtualization environments and cloud infrastructure
* Participate in after-hours maintenance windows and project implementations as needed
* Utilize Datto RMM and Halo PSA for monitoring, ticketing, and project management
* Conduct on-site visits to client locations within the Portland area as required
*Required Qualifications*
*Microsoft Expertise:*
* Extensive experience with Microsoft Server technologies (Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, File Services, Print Services, Windows Server administration)
* Deep understanding of the Microsoft 365 ecosystem including:
* Exchange Online
* Microsoft Teams
* SharePoint Online and SharePoint Server *(excellent proficiency *_*required*_*)*
* OneDrive for Business
* Microsoft Intune/Endpoint Manager
* Azure AD/Entra ID
* Security & Compliance Center
* Power BI (proficiency required)
*Infrastructure & Networking:*
* Advanced networking knowledge (TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, switching, subnetting)
* Hands-on experience with firewall configuration, management, and security policies
* VPN technologies and remote access solutions
* Network troubleshooting and performance optimization
* Virtualization platforms (VMware vSphere, Hyper-V)
*MSP Tools & Practices:*
* Experience with RMM and PSA platforms (Datto and Halo experience highly preferred)
* Strong documentation practices and attention to detail
* Understanding of ITIL or similar service management frameworks
* Project management capabilities
*Professional Requirements:*
* Minimum 5-7 years of IT experience with at least 3 years in an MSP environment or similar role
* Proven track record of managing complex technical projects
* Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences
* Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
* Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks effectively
* Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
* Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (servers, equipment, etc.)
* Willingness to travel locally up to 10% of the time
* Availability for after-hours project work and emergency support when needed
* Must be local to the Portland, OR area
*Preferred Qualifications*
* Experience with Google Workspace administration
* Mac/Apple ecosystem knowledge and support experience
* Industry certifications such as:
* Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
* Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert
* CompTIA Network+, Security+, or similar
* Cisco CCNA or equivalent
* Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS)
* Scripting and automation skills (PowerShell, Python, etc.)
* Experience with security frameworks and compliance requirements

Pay: $85,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
