We are seeking a dedicated Shipping Clerk to join our team in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This role is critical for ensuring that our outgoing shipments are processed accurately, efficiently, and on time. Your responsibilities will include preparing orders for shipment, creating shipping labels, coordinating with freight carriers, and loading trucks. A meticulous attention to detail is required to minimize errors and ensure customer satisfaction. Safety is paramount in our warehouse, and adherence to all PPE requirements is mandatory. This position involves some physical activity, including the potential for lifting packages. If you are organized, reliable, and possess good communication skills, this is an excellent opportunity to be an integral part of our logistics operations. You will play a key role in ensuring our products reach their destinations promptly and in good condition.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare customer orders for shipment, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Generate and affix correct shipping labels and documentation.
- Schedule and coordinate with shipping carriers for timely pickups.
- Load outgoing freight onto trucks securely and efficiently.
- Verify shipment details against order records before dispatch.
- Maintain accurate shipping logs and records.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams and external carriers.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and the correct use of PPE.
- Assist with tasks involving occasional lifting of items up to 30 lbs.
- Contribute to the overall efficiency of the shipping department and logistics flow.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a shipping, logistics, or warehouse environment is preferred.
- Proficiency with shipping software and carrier systems.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Awareness of warehouse safety protocols and the importance of PPE.
- Ability to perform tasks requiring occasional physical exertion.
- A team-oriented approach to work.
