Job Summary
LODC Group Ltd., a premier manufacturer of food, beverage and specialty products conveniently located in Lewisville, TX is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Packaging Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will support the development, validation, sourcing, and management of all packaging components used in the production of dry powders, liquid supplements, specialty oils, liquid beverages, and personal care products.
Reporting to the Director of Supply Chain & Logistics, this position plays a key role in ensuring packaging materials meet operational, regulatory, and customer requirements while aligning with manufacturing capabilities and cost objectives. Our packaging specialist will collaborate with cross-functional teams—including Sales, R&D, Quality, and Production—to support new product development/costing and commercialization, manage active packaging items, and maintain accurate specifications and artwork across a dynamic product portfolio.
Responsibilities
- Assist in sourcing and qualifying new packaging materials, components, and suppliers to meet customer and production requirements.
- Develop and maintain packaging specifications, ensuring technical accuracy and compatibility with manufacturing processes.
- Partner with Quality Department to ensure incoming inspection protocols are properly established and executed.
- Support validation and testing of new packaging materials and/or artwork for performance, stability, and compliance with LODN production parameters. Key member of the line trial team.
- Conduct packaging audits and maintain documentation for material certifications and testing results.
- Serve as a packaging liaison for new item costing initiatives and launches, ensuring packaging requirements are defined, approved, and ready for production.
- Collaborate with R&D, Sales, QA, and customers during the commercialization process to ensure packaging functionality, aesthetics, and regulatory compliance.
- Maintain accurate records of packaging specifications, drawings, and technical data for all active items.
- Work with Engineering and Production teams to establish proper line operating settings for packaging materials/substrates.
- Manage packaging artwork adaptation, updates, proofs, and version control in coordination with internal teams and external graphic suppliers.
- Ensure artwork and labeling changes are properly reviewed, approved, and implemented within required timelines.
- Support sales team and customers with artwork adaptation and packaging modification needs.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Industrial Design, Materials Science, or a minimum of 5 years in related work experience.
- Experience in packaging design, manufacturing, or production environment.
- Knowledge of packaging materials (plastics, corrugate, films, foils, etc.) and packaging equipment.
- Ability to read product documents, spec sheets, dielines, etc.
- Knowledge of printing processes (flexography, lithography, digital).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
- Ability to sit, stand and move about our large production facility
- Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
